Soccer arrests rise in region Express & Star - Thursday, October 18, 2007
The number of football hooligans arrested last season increased across the West Midlands, Home Office figures reveal today. The club with the highest arrests was Birmingham City with 100 compared with 93 in 2005-06. Wolves and Aston Villa both had 77 "fans" taken into custody. The Wolves total was up 31 over the previous year, and Villa's was up 16. Fifty-one people were arrested in connection with Walsall games - compared to 12 for 2005-06. West Brom's total was 38 (23 in 2005-06). Only Stoke City's total of 51 was down on the previous season (66). More Wolves fans were given banning orders by magistrates than any other club across the region - 15, bringing the total number of Wanderers supporters banned from attending matches in this country or abroad to 52. Birmingham City supporters had 12 banning orders imposed during the season, bringing the clubs totalto 54 currently banned. Other banning order figures are: Villa 81 (three); Albion 45 (7); Walsall 20 (0); Stafford Rangers 1 (1).
Glad to see that our fans are being proven to be a lot more well-behaved lately than our close dysfunctional neighbour's, although having no arrests would have been more desirable ;D

So by 'Midlands' you mean West Midlands? Us more refined East Midlanders would have wiped the floor with you.
