They had to play it at another stadium, can't remember why but I would've thought the Stade de France would have been the far more obvious option. Lille's stadium isn't up to the required standard for European games. The Lens stadium is the closest to Lille which is of standard. I see - I knew Lille and Lens were fairly close but I didn't know why it was played there. Thanks for enlightening me! ;D

Not at all, having said that, from what's been said, it seems it was the stewards and the over zealous police that caused the problems as well as the facilities apparently being poor.. True enough but the Stade de France is a lot more modern and also bigger, specially for such a tie.

should they have been allowed to take part in the Champs League then if their stadium wasn't good enough? If I remember rightly, teams in the Conference were denied promotion to the Football LEague because they didn't have enough seats?

If the stadium doesn't meet Football League requirements, they have to build a new ground/ground share til they find a new one? In Scotland, a couple years back, think it was Falkirk, they won promotion by a mile but didn't go up because their stadium was naff (for want of a better word) Tis fair enough if they find a better ground to play at..

I suppose it's easer to use another ground for somin like Champs Leage coz you don't play all that many games, whereas it's 30 odd for a whole league season
