Controversial score but Lille got just what they deserved. That club really needs to sort out its match-day operations, despicable scenes.

Well. the sneaky free kick by Giggs before the whistle enraged the Lille players, and justifiably so IMHO. Further, it apparently followed a Lille goal disallowed by the ref for a very flimsy reason. I guess the Lille team felt it was the last straw, but they finished the game. And Ferguson hasn't made many friends by criticising the inadequacy of the Lens stadium; not every football team manager has the luck of Ferguson to inherit a 70,000 seater. Good luck to Lille in the second leg!

Good luck to Lille in the second leg! The Giggs goal was ok tho. The ref doesnt have to blow the whistle. He asked Giggs if he wanted to take a free kick and you can clearly see the ref walking away. A perfectly legitimate goal. Imo I think Vidic was fouled aswel. Why he would go down so easily I dont know? Also wasnt that the Lille officials fucking up allowing too many people in the away end?

Ditto that. As much as I don't like the fact the goal was given, the ref got it spot on, on both counts. I remember Ian Harte doing the same against Le Arse some years back, Henry's done it a couple times n all. Tis perfectly 'legal'. Also with the Lille goal, in the Prem that kind of goal is given a lot more than in Europe but it was definately a foul. The stewards apparently let some more Manyoo fans into the away end when they only had tickets for the home stands, stupidity in itself really and the police overreacting obviously didn't help. For once, the Manyoo lot dint do owt wrong.

Cheers GW & spozz saves me having to have a huge Rant though the comments of some do make me laugh, the story i heard with the crowd was that they had closed a part of the stand which caused the overcrowding but it was instantly eased once that part of the stand was opened, the two lads beaten just clambered the fence to escape the crush and took a heavy beating once agaion English Fans are tarred with the old brush yet English Fans a possibly the best behaved of the lot these days

Lille's stadium isn't up to the required standard for European games. The Lens stadium is the closest to Lille which is of standard.
