Looks like Mr Brown is getting thinks sorted before he steps into Tony Blairs shoes and house as it were...or rather get his old house back.
Petrol is going up again to push it up to the Phycological 4 pound a gallon. Which means it will increase duty by 5.7p a gallon or to us young'uns 1.25p a litre. Which means that car drivers will end up having to pay £20 a year per car! The average driver will pay around £1,156,46 a year! Worst but about it is that just over 809 pound will be TAX ALONE!
An extra 800Million will be spent on fighting the wars in Afgan and Iraq. Also 84 million on counter terroism.
On a good note (or i guess is a good note) Child benefits will be given before the baby is born. Meaning the parents will get about 200 pound before the baby is even born.
Have the usual more money for schools and kids. Even if many primary school leavers cannot even grasp the basic english, science and maths!!
A huge talking point is the exclusion of the NHS. nothing at all was mentioned. So what exactly has the future PM-elect got up his sleeve to save our failing, pennyless health service? Only the Labour Party will know that at this time. So I for one wait in anticipation.

I've said it so many time before, although only once on this board. Anyone who wants to be a politician is mad, for every person pleased there's normally one upset. You can't make a decision without upsetting millions.

They aren't actually 'wars' though. The wars ended years ago, thats what I was trying to point out. They're both now 'peacekeeping', 'counter-insurgencey' or 'rebuilding' missions depending on who you ask- it's strange that the budget sets aside £800m for 'wars' which both Bush and Blair now try to deny we are fighting.

...and shouldn't they spend the extra money from petrol tax on improving public transport, and therefore persuade people to ditch their cars for buses and trains?

we need to stop those benifits for teenage mothers Would you rather they all get abortions on the NHS, as they'd argue they wouldn't be able to afford to look after their babies properly?

If you beleve that then you're undermiming the whole notion of the welfare state, and some people do actually need and deserve benefits.

To be honest Green taxes need to be put up, but it needs to be on a global scale. It's all very well Gordon Brown and David Cameron saying they're green, but taxes in the U.K solve nothing. There needs to be pressure on the U.S., and if they try to cut carbon emissions China and India are more likely to follow suit. However, as a certain U.S. politician said (forgotten who) they ignore us, so really it's out of our hands.
We should do all we can to discourage teenage mothers, but leaving their child in poverty once they've made the mistake is not fair. I honestly can't think of a solution though. I'm a critic, I never really have ideas.
