Manchester City have completed the signing of Belgian striker Emile Mpenza until the end of the season, subject to international clearance. He has joined City as a free agent having ended his contract with Qatar side Al Rayyan.
The 28-year-old, who was on trial at City, played in a specially-arranged match on Wednesday, scoring the second goal in a 3-0 win against Blackpool.
Mpenza has won over 50 caps and played in Germany with Schalke and Hamburg.
The Belgian will be unavailable for Sunday's FA Cup fifth-round tie at Preston.

He might still be able to do a job then. I always worry about players coming back from Qatar or places like that. They are usually there becasue they cant cut it in Europe anymore and because they are greedy. We shall have to wait and see.........
