And just when am I supposed to find time for Corridor 8...?
Well, as it happens, I am on holiday from this weekend.
I think that I should remind all interested parties that application forms for being a Prowler in the corridor are available in the thread on this page entitled "Prowler request".
I shall be reviewing these and shortlisting over the weekend and regular customers can rest assured that Corridor 8 will be fully operational at the earliest possible opportunity.
In the meantime, please use this temporary accommodation. I appreciate that this is simply a wortable toilet but you will find that whilst the accommodation is cramped it is suitably dark and the odours are similar as anybody but might be wishing for.
Please do not concern yourselves over the sofa or Dan's plants, as both have been placed into storage and both will be regularly watered during this brief spell in limbo.
In the meantime, guests should feel free to reach up into the rafters where you will find many a scampering rat, some with human organs grafted upon them for your pleasure.

The missing rant that triggered the collapse of #7 has been recovered: I don't know the answer to that one. Bit concerned to be honest and feeling guilty as I never got around to sending off my ballot paper I have no objection to teachers striking - I think we have plenty of just causes that would be indisputable for a lot of people. I just don't think that this one. However much I object to the idea that I shall be working for less each year in real terms for the next three years than I do now, the reality is that for this part of the world I'm well paid and most people seem to do equally stupid hours for less. I think striking on our own over money would be a public relations disaster in the current climate. Now if we were to get together with other public sector workers and all go out on strike at teh same time like they do in France, that would be another story... What about you?
See, I may incure your ire on this, but I really don't agree with striking (not if you do a job of our type, and then nursing and policing as well) anyway. It's the Conservative in me I guess (but don't judge me!) From a personal point of view, I wouldn't anyway because I simply cannot afford to lose a day's pay over it. What does nark me is that the banner headlines read 'Teachers to strike', yet it's one union calling it's members out. I'm in NASUWT and amusingly, I'm the only one at my school (except for the Head!) who is, so it'll be interesting. The NUT rep is very militant, so she'll be out, but it'll be an eye-opener to see who else goes...I do agree that comparatively, it's not a bad job. What I'd like to see (in an ideal world, apart from Ken Livingstone's spleen served up in a curry) is public sector workers being given the same rise (and by that I mean police, nurses and teachers, we seem to be of a similar ilk and status in terms of what we do), instead of being viewed enviously by others and as greedy whingers by the rest (which is what the NUT seem to have done quite admirably, militant tw@ts!) And breathe... Now, about those rat's ears? Can I have mine Tempura styleee?
Where as I am NUT and forever disappointed by how lacking in militancy they are I voted to strike over the workforce reform which was an absolute scandal of a piece of government legislation that people out in the real world just do not know about. 92% of my union voted to strike on a relatively high turn out but our union leadership vetoed it. At that point I would have left the NUT but it was the combined acquiescence of the ATL and the NAS/UWT signing up for the workforce reforms that left us dangling and now we're watching unqualified people teaching lessons and people losing their jobs or being forced to apply for positions they already have whilst others see their security, salaries and pensions compromised. My former school made 9 teachers redundant last week, all at a time when recruitment and retention of teachers is at crisis levels? In my opinion, we do no favours to the children we teach if we blithely tolerate the undermining of ourselves and thereby the quality of their education. I can't afford to strike either but would do so at an instant if I thought it would lead to benefits to the system. I don't believe in this one and am thoroughly ashamed that I didn't vote. However I absolutely will not cross any picket lines. The reality is I think my school will ignore it... All the unions lost all credibility with me at the same point that the New Labour government did. I wrote countless letters to my MP and he just replied saying that I clearly had strong opinions and had I considered joining the Labour party? Tw@t. You see what you made me do? *eats rat alive, crunching through its head*

The inevitable happened... I am being called away. I'm glad I was here for the big moment. I feel like I drew up a chair at The Restaurant at the End of The Universe. I tend not to manage to get on here Fridays, as some of you know and Saturday is an Argyle day. Corridor 8 is a work in progress. In the meantime, enjoy... Don't worry about the greenery. You can't see any of it from inside.
