LATEST NEWS
Darlington are planning to bring back striker Alun Armstrong for his second spell at the club. The ex-Stockport and Ipswich forward, 31, played for the Quakers between September 2004 and October 2005.
He is set to return to the north-east club after leaving Rushden & Diamonds at the end of last season.
"We still need cover in that area and Alun will provide that," manager David Hodgson told the Northern Echo.
"Alun has been a bit unlucky with injuries, but he is a player who can score goals."
Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson can now strengthen his squad after the club's transfer embargo was lifted. Pools were prevented from signing players as their playing budget exceeded the 60% of turnover permitted in League Two by the Football League.
However, a number of players have recently left and funding from the club's owners has been restructured.
New figures were presented to the League, and Pools have announced that they now comply with the regulations.
Wilson is now expected to pursue new signings, with his side yet to win a game.
Grimsby are handing a trial to former Cardiff midfielder Willie Boland. The 31-year-old Irishman, who made over 200 league appearances for Cardiff, is expected to train with the Mariners on Tuesday with a view to securing a deal.
He was informed by Cardiff at the end of last season that he would not be kept on by the club after seven years.
Boland, who had a trial with Swansea in July, started his career with Coventry, but after less than 50 starts in nearly seven years he joined Cardiff for free.
Thanks, more news will be posted same time tomorrow.
