They cant enter Uefa cup .......
FA director of communications Adrian Bevington said: "I'm sure the supporters of all the clubs are so excited because they've not been to Wembley for a very long time.
"I know there will be a fantastic level excitement building among all supporters' groups."
As it stands, if Cardiff win the Cup they will not be allowed to enter the Uefa Cup, as Uefa regulations prevent the Welsh side from playing in European competition as England's representative.
......
is this the same if they did ever manage to get a CL position as well.
Who would get Uefa place ? epl side or runner up in the cup ?

Runner up in the cup I think. If they cannot qualify for Europe via the FA Cup, why are they allowed to compete to win it. I suppose the same applies to Swansea, Wrexham and Hereford?

Yeah IF we win it, the losing finalist would get the place. Would complicate matters if Portsmouth were the losing finalists and finished high enough in the Prem to get a place via the League. Cardiff are allowed to compete in it, like Swansea and Wrexham, because when "The Football League" was formed, the national distinction was not relevant - and at that time there was no League of Wales. Hereford, Mozza, are in England! Incidentally a few English teams compete in Welsh competitions - I do not know whether there would be the same problem if an English team won the FAW Cup, and wanted their European place that way. It does also suggest that Cardiff should put in more effort in the FAW Cup if we can still get into Europe through that route - money is handy! I suspect therefore we cannot go that route either, it is a bit of an odd one and maybe a problem in the long run....

My baad Jules, it's fairly close to Wales, although I do appreciate they are classed as an English club, but very unlikley they will ever meet the mighty feat of Cardiff.
Well done to Cardiff, much deserved and best of luck.

Cheers mate, I'm keeping fingers crossed that both my grand-dads will be dancing on their clouds come the end of the season!

I have a good feeling about Cardiff, it would be amazing if you did win the cup and everyone lobbying that Cardiff should have a place in Europe, will be interesting. The playoffs is very much a possibility, this could be the best season ever for you boys. Keep them fingers crossed.

We play some decent stuff on a good day, not probably polished enough overall to do too well in the Prem - and not the squad depth currently either - but yes if we won it we would deserve that European place, you never know how things might work out - I'll not jinx it by saying more for now! Just about, we'd be lucky to sneak into them as things stand. I would at my most pessimistic say that we could establish ourselves in the Premiership though by my mid-30s! With the new ground, higher attendances, some financial stability and with a core of players who won't get sold off at the first whiff of a decent bid. See I'm worried that Ledley and Ramsay will both have to be sold this summer - it's a DISTINCT possibility at least.

There is a team from leichstenstein (i think) who play in the Swiss 2nd Division but they have qualified for the 1st knockout round for the last 6 years after beating some potato farmers and a pub side to win their local cup.

Spot on there Gres the only way Cardiff can get into europe is via the FAW cup which Newport knocked us out of this season and we generally don't do that well in in recent years as we tend to field very weak sides cos no-one seems to give a shit about the competition. It would be a hell of a kick in the teeth for us though if we did win the FA cup and didn't get the chance to go into europe because we would deserve it as any club has won the cup previously, but we have known for years that it would not be allowed and the FAW have met with Uefa on numerous occasions in the past about this matter and have got nowhere fast with it so i'm sure most Cardiff fans will just grin and bear it if we do win, plus the fact we'll be so over the moon with winning the cup anyway we won't mind not going into a competition we'll get quickly knocked out of lol

Sooz - why don't we bother winning the FAW Cup then? Surely if nothing else it's worth doing for the Euro money?!

We'd qualify if we played in the LoW!!! ....or at least sneak a UEFA Cup qualifying berth. The way your club has been run, you should think you're lucky not to be there! (Remember MK Dons! ) Nah mate, CL for Cardiff and UEFA for Swansea! (genuinely sorry!!!)

That's what Chelsea said at Oakwell. True... but they are arrogant overpaid tossers! Plus that line of argument reminds me of Eoin's before the Wales-Ireland Rugby match!

Sorry I forgot that you've only got the likes of Hasselbaink and Fowler on your books! Rugby is a waste of space! Hasselbaink has been an adequate servant this season. Fowler... well we all make mistakes (Seth Johnson, Tomas Brolin, Fowler again... the list is endless!) ;D It's a man's game Trav... would put hairs on your chest! ;D
