The 40-year-old former Cardiff City captain and Welsh international, who has undergone surgery twice, spoke of his joy after tests came back negative after a month-long wait.
He said: 'I'm safe for the next six months, and I can relax for now. The first scan is a big one, to see if there's anything there, and it was concerning that I had to have mine early.
'There were days when I didn't think about it, but it plays on your mind.
'Maybe the doctor was being cautious, but thank God it's come back normal. It's a massive relief and I'm just glad it's all over.'
Andy had a lump removed from his neck in 2001, which was benign. Last year the lump reappeared and his entire lymph gland was removed in a major operation.
His doctor ordered more tests after he had concerns following a check-up but gave him the all-clear this week.
Now Andy, who was born in Neath and currently plays for Llanelli, has to have check-ups every six months, for up to five years.
Messages of support flooded into the Echo from as far afield as Australia and New Zealand after his latest scare.
The dad-of-one, who has a six-year-old daughter Alicia, said: 'It's unbelievable that messages have come from all over the world.
'I've had Cardiff fans phoning me with their support too.
'It's nice to know people still think of me and that I've not been forgotten.'
Vince Alm, spokesman for the Cardiff City Supporters' Club, said: 'We're all very pleased to hear it's good news for Andy, and I hope he continues to have good luck in the future.
'He was a great servant for us, and a tidy individual as well.
'He's battled hard against this.'
