Swansea sea have confirmed they rejected a £300K offer from Cardiff City for midfielder Andy Robinson.
The player has one year left on his contract and has no intention of signing a new deal. He wants to better himself and has told Swansea what he expects to be paid. He would move to a Championship club to realise his ambition but Swansea are refusing to sell him for less that £500,000 a fee that clubs do not appear to want to pay.
Unless comething is sorted the player is set to see out his final year and then move for free next summer.
"I have reason to believe Swansea want £500,000 for me, but clubs are only prepared to offer £300,000," the midfielder revealed last night.
"There's definitely no way I'm going to commit to the new contract at Swansea on the terms I've been offered.
"It's still some way from being what I could earn at a Championship club. But I've promised the gaffer - and I can promise the fans - my mind is still on the job at Swansea.
"If I pull on the shirt against Cheltenham on Saturday, I'll do what I've always done and that's give my all for Swansea. Once I get out on the pitch, all the stuff going on with regards to the contract will be out of my head.
"Perhaps some supporters will think I'm being greedy or whatever, but I hope they understand I'm just trying to do what's best for myself and my family.
"I hope they realise I always give 110 per cent for the team and always will do whenever I play. I'll always wear the shirt with pride."
The statement from Swansesa City reads
"We have made Andy an exceptional offer to commit his future to the club, and feel we've reached the point where this has to be our final offer.
"We feel the deal being offered fully reflects Andy's career development since he joined us in August 2003.
"However, Andy feels we are still some way short of matching both his playing and financial aspirations over the next few years.
"Obviously, the club is disappointed with this stance.
"Swansea City do not want to sell Andy and we are more than willing for to Andy to stay with the club and to see out the final year of his current contract - even if this results in Andy walking away as a free agent next summer.
"To prove the club's commitment to keeping Andy, we have in the past few weeks rejected offers from Southend United and Cardiff City of £200,000 and £300,000 respectively.
"Our aim this season is to achieve automatic promotion to the Championship and we feel that Andy has a big part to play in us realising that ambition."
