Dave Jones today laughed off stories emerging in Scotland saying he has applied for the manager's job at Hearts.
'Absolutely not true at all,' said the City boss, while sources at the Edinburgh club have also denied the reports.
Hearts' owner Vladimir Romanov ruthlessly sacked Jones' friend Graham Rix this week - and needs a new manager for the third time in a year. George Burley was the first manager to quit Tynecastle under Romanov.
Jones is the man behind Cardiff's outstanding climb to the top eight in the Coca-Cola Championship - and he has been in South Wales for less than a year.
He has moved his family to a new home in the Vale of Glamorgan and has started a job he wants to finish.
True, he badly wants City to start work on their new stadium and is frustrated at their lack of a training ground.
Cardiff Athletic Stadium, the home of Cardiff Grange Quins, is hardly ideal for footballers chasing a Premiership dream.
Jones is focused on the run-in to the end of the Championship season and keen to finish a job he has started.
And the volatile nature of life at Hearts under Romanov will make him wary of any approach from the SPL outfit.
