Coventry have rejected an approach from Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion for manager Micky Adams.
The managerless Baggies parted company with Bryan Robson on 18 September.
Sky Blues managing director Paul Fletcher said in a statement: "Micky Adams is an important part of this club and an integral part of our plans."
Meanwhile, West Brom have confirmed that England and Middlesbrough coach Steve Round had applied for the job - but has since withdrawn his interest.
A Baggies statement read: "The club were contacted by Steve Round's agent, Colin Gordon, last week, regarding the vacant manager's job.
"After talking to Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate, the club arranged to meet Round as part of its process of compiling a shortlist for the vacancy.
Micky is doing a magnificent job and we owe it to our fans and our players to keep him here
Coventry managing director Paul Fletcher
"The meeting did not take place after Gordon withdrew Round's application.
"The club's timescale for appointing a new manager remains on course and the board is fully focused on this at the moment.
"The possible appointment of a sporting and technical director is not connected with the managerial vacancy.
"Since the post of sporting and technical director was advertised in July, several candidates have been interviewed but one-one has been offered the job."
Adams has been in charge of the Sky Blues since succeeding Peter Reid in January 2005 and oversaw their move from Highfield Road to the Ricoh Arena that summer.
He has previously managed Fulham, Swansea, Brentford, Brighton and Leicester.
Fletcher added: "Micky is doing a magnificent job and we owe it to our fans and our players to keep him here."
Robson's former assistant Nigel Pearson has been in charge of the Baggies on a caretaker basis.
However, former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley, an early favourite, has distanced himself from the job.
Burnley manager Steve Cotterill and Cardiff boss Dave Jones have also cooled speculation linking their names with The Hawthorns.

Fuck off West Brom
Most pointless club ever
