Former Crystal Palace chairman Ron Noades believes his former club will struggle to win promotion from The Championship this coming season.
The former Selhurst Park chief thinks it will take time for The Eagles to build a side capable of making a return to The Premiership, claiming the sale of striker Andy Johnson will be a big void to fill.
"I don't think Palace have the side that's good enough, with the competition of the teams that are coming down and the one or two that are building in there," Noades told Sky Sports News.
"I think it might be too early for Peter [Taylor] to get what he wants.
"He's losing his star forward, who I thought was an exceptional player, and all he needed was somebody alongside him."
Noades has also questioned if Taylor has the managerial qualities to make the South London outfit a success.
"I think Peter Taylor is a great coach, but is he ruthless enough to be the manager?" he asked.
"It's great being the [England] Under-21 manager, you haven't got to buy the players.
"He's done well at Gillingham, he inherited a very good team there.
"He's done well at Hull but, on the other hand, what he did at Hull, I did at Brentford."
Though currently not involved in football at present, Noades says a return to Palace in some capacity would be the only way he would return to the game.
"I'd only go back to Palace," Noades said. "I wouldn't go back to football unless I went to Palace.
"I suppose if [current chairman] Simon [Jordan] actually found someone to take it on and I could play a part, then I'd be interested."
