Hiya folks,
I'm a new member of this board, thought Id get the ball rolling, by starting a new thread.
I first began this thread on one of the general boards, until I realised there was a board solely dedicated to our team, Derby County. Bit slow off the mark, me! So I thought I re-post this thread somewhere where it might gather more interest.
Iam looking forward to my first visit to the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, to watch The Rams take on Reading.
After seeing us snatch victory on Saturday, in a enthralling game with Palace, I'm heading to Reading in confidence, that we can give Reading a interesting game.
But I have no illusions of grandeur, Reading are a team, high on confidence after winning promotion, and deservedly so. So I expect a tough game, in which Derby will have to perform as bravely as they did last Saturday, to come away with anything.
Reading play a tidy, attractive brand of football, that has seen them waltz this league, and they have made the Madejski Stadium somewhat of a fortress ever since they lost to Plymouth on the opening game, and they will not be keen to drop points, even though they are guarenteed promotion.
They will want to win as many of the remaining games as possible, looking to end the season in style and this game will be no different.
I think, given Derby's away form being so poor generally this season, I dont expect anything more than a point. But Reading, might take their eye of the ball and become complacent as their Premiership status is already secured, and Derby could capitalise on that. Wishful thinking I know.
But, given our revival of sorts under Westley, I see no reason why we can't to go Reading, in high spirits and throw a spanner in the works, maybe even win.
The boys certainly need an good away performance and a win, most importantly, to repay the fans for their patience, commitment and loyalty in what has been a torrid season on and off the pitch, and the three points could further move us away from the relegation dog-fight and have us heading towards a respectable mid-table, possibly top half position, which would leave us to rebuild in the summer, under a new manager and Im hoping, a new board.
Prediction for Reading-Derby: 1-1
Other views are welcome.
