Well, what a performance! How the same group of players who lost 5-1 to Colchester just a few weeks ago can win 4-1 today is unbelievable. We ran Cardiff off the park, the passing was great, the movement was great, and the formation worked a treat, simply because Barmby was payed in his best position for a change!
It was a 4-3-1-2........and it worked.
Myhill 7. Didn't have much to do at all, his kicking was good, and when he was required to make a point blank save, he did. Couldn't have done much for the Cardiff goal in my opinion.
Ricketts 7. Was solid, but sometimes got outpaced by Paul Parry. Also, sometimes didn't put the ball in the box quick enough. Overall though, a solid performance.
Delaney 8. A solid performance with a goal as a reward. Won most balls in the air, and managed a superb last ditch tackle to stop Chopra getting a second. Pounced on the rebound from the corner to get his goal.
Coles 8. The same as Delaney, Solid performance at the back, and won most headers.
Dawson 7. Another solid performance at left back. Didn't do anything special, nor any mistakes.
Livermore 8. Solid in the midfield. Got himself in good positions in the centre to alleviate any pressure that may have occured on other players.
Ashbee 10. A captain's performance. Won every header in the middle. Battled hard, made some superb tackles, and had a cool head when others didn't. Simply fantastic. MAN OF THE MATCH.
Marney 8. Was played in his best position. Played well, and deserved his goal for the hard work he has put in.
Barmby 8. Finally, a manager who plays him in his best position, and look what happens. Didn't get that involved, but with the simple touches he made, you could see why he was once an England international.
McPhee 9. Considering this was his first start after 16 months out injured, he did fantastic. Showed his superb leap, and managed to flick on some balls, challenging Purse in the air and winning a hell of a lot against a so called fantastic defender, when McPhee is half the size.
Fagan 9. Anoher battling performance capped by a fully deserved goal. My personal player of the season so far, is is just playing simply brilliantly.
Bridges 7. (60mins for Barmby) Didn't do anything spectacular, but took his goal well. Some nice touchess.
Elliott 6. (83mins for McPhee) Not enough time to make a sufficient impact on a game that was already won.
The Alex Performance Rating = 10/10
