Veteran defender Fabian Wilnis has confirmed that he will sign his new one-year deal with the Blues. Wilnis, 37 in August, has been with Town since signing from De Graafschap for £200,000 in January 1999. The Dutchman said: "We spoke during last week with my agent and we hope to finalise all the details this week, but hopefully it will all be completed and I will be a Blues player for another 12 months." Town have also offered a new deal to young defender Ian Miller, while Jaime Peters will get an extension to his stay at Portman Road if the Blues are successful in securing the Canadian a new work permit. Glad to see Wilnis has signed a new 1 year extension. I know at just short of 37 he is no spring chicken, but I think in recent games he has proved his hunger and determination is still there. Earlier in the season I was really sceptical about him being in the squad, watching him get torn apart by Nugent at Portman Road for example. But on recent performces I think he merits this new contract, although I don't expect him to be a regular starter next season.
Brilliant to see that Peters will get a contract if he can get his work permit sorted. I think he's a great talent, he's really worked hard to improve this season, and his perfornces on the pitch show that. If there's one place where his game still needs work however, its crossing the ball. He does all the hard work, getting possession at half way, beating his may, getting to the byline and then the cross is low and just comes off the legs of a defender and harmlessly bounces away.
