Ipswich have appealed to the Football Association against the red card shown to George O'Callaghan in their 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Watford on Saturday. The midfielder was dismissed for an alleged stamp on Hornets defender Dan Shittu and is facing a three-match ban.
But boss Jim Magilton told Town's website: "Shittu landed on George in his follow-through after his challenge, and George has just flicked out.
"It was just a coming together of two bodies in a passionate FA Cup tie."
An FA disciplinary appeals panel will judge the case on Tuesday.
Hopefully it'll be accepted because I can't really see what he's done wrong!

though according to the times Bennet was fabelhaft and magilton is a loony. also there is the notion that this card is only being appealed so we can play O Callahagn tomorrow.

Interesting Surely if we were appealing though and the decision is pending, he wouldn't be able to play tomorrow anyway?

FA rescinds O'Callaghan red card
Ipswich have won their appeal to have the red card received by George O'Callaghan against Watford on Saturday rescinded by the Football Association.
The midfielder was dismissed for an alleged stamp on Hornets defender Dan Shittu during Town's FA Cup defeat.
However, the FA upheld O'Callaghan's appeal after he claimed he did not deliberately aim a kick at Shittu.
"I always felt it was harsh and we're delighted we were successful," manager Jim Magilton told the club website.
The decision means that O'Callaghan, who would have served a three-match ban had the suspension been upheld, is now free to face Wolves at Portman Road on Tuesday night.
So Steve Bennett is a knob! We're not wrong! YAY!
