Here's what I remember of Euro 96, or at least what I think I remember - some facts may have gotten mangled seeing as it was over 10 years ago and I wasn't really into football then:
Watching the first half of England 0-0 Switzerland and getting very bored - I didn't like live football in those days, I usually only watched highlights because "they were more exciting"...
Hearing on the car radio that we'd beaten Scotland - I've forgotten the score now. I also remember some story on the news a few minutes before about some woman falling off a cliff in a place I'd been on holiday to the previous year. Strange what you remember, isn't it.
England playing Holland - no idea whether we won it or not.
Going to my eldest half-brother's house to watch England v Spain. He kept giving me alcopops which didn't please my dad! The game went to penalties and I remember David Seaman saving the decisive penalty (oh, and one of the Spanish kicktakers doing some gay thing where he ran up to the ball then tried to trick Seaman by not kicking it and taking the shot later)
Watching some of England v Germany until I got all nervous (I was a very nervous kid) and had to leave the room when I heard it had gone to Sudden Death (I don't think I really knew what Sudden Death meant, and seeing as I was a nervous kid anyway, it's not really the best thing to hear)
Then hearing we'd gone out, and from that moment on embedding the thought in my head that Gareth Southgate was a useless prat.
;D
Apologies if any of this is completely wrong, but as I say, I was a part-time fan in those days and I had no idea what was going on. So there.
