How can the Ipswich vs Colchester game kick off at 3pm on a Saturday, yet the Ipswich vs Norwich game always kicks off at some ridiculous time on a Sunday?
Colchester have said they don't like us either, and last time I checked they were closer to us than Norwich are.
To me, that's not fair. Either change Ipswich vs Colchester's kick off time (and I don't think any of us would want that). Or finally trust both the fans enough to make the Ipswich vs Norwich game a normal kick off time, on a Saturday and not at 11:30 in the morning. Perhaps have less police about, I've not heard about any trouble in the past couple of season, sometimes it's so ridiculous it's intimidating.
Anyway. That's just out of interest.

I think it may have a lot to do with fanbase. Colchester's is relatively small whereas Norwich have a bigger following. And the rivalry is a lot bigger.

agreed although geographically we're nearer to colchester, our main rivals have always been norwich plus, we haven't played colchester in quite a while before this season.......n we play norwich quite frequently i trust colchester will bring a full allocation, hope they do, should be a great atmosphere but its pretty much a " friendly derby " as opposed to the main one, with norwich ! however,,,,,,,, if we're in the same league as colchester for the next 10 years and norwich either go up / down,,,,,,,,, then that could change ! but for now, sat 3pm k/o should be fine

The police presence at the norwich game was stupidly big. Its annoying to see yellow jackets everywhere but if we can do that and have the game on a sat afternoon even better

If we lose again, we'll care more about this bloody derby in future... Indeed... From the ITFC website: Ipswich Police are appealing to both Town and Colchester supporters to enjoy the derby this weekend but to behave respectfully and responsibly. Superintendent Chris Mayhew will be the match commander overseeing the policing operation, which will involve in excess of 150 officers from Suffolk and the British Transport Police (BTP). He commented: "This will be an exciting game for Ipswich and Colchester fans and a welcomed addition to our local derby fixtures. "We will continue our use of firm but fair policing to ensure the safety of those attending the game and those members of the public wishing to go about their normal business." The tactics used may result in some minor delays and may restrict movement in the vicinity of the ground but both sets of fans are asked to bear with it as they are aimed at ensuring everyone's safety. The public are asked to be prepared for crowd and traffic congestion and disruption on the day and to avoid the town if not attending the game. Superintendent Mayhew acknowledges the rail transport difficulties with Colchester trains having been cancelled.Following consultation with BTP he advises Colchester fans to use the Manningtree train to Ipswich if appropriate as Manningtree station also has a large car park. He also impresses on people to car share and use public transport or the Park and Ride if convenient.Ipswich Borough Council encourage the use of the Civic Drive, Charles Street, South Street and the Waterfront/Duke Street car parks along with the more familiar ones, which although are further away from the Portman Road Stadium are still only a short walk away.
