FA Cup axe threat hangs over Bury Bury face the prospect of being thrown out of the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player in their 3-1 second round replay win over Chester City. Bury, who play Ipswich in the third round, will answer charges over Stephen Turnbull at a 20 December hearing. "There are approximately four options that the Challenge Cup sub-committee have," read a Bury statement. "They could to do nothing, fine the club, order a replay or remove Bury from this season's FA Cup competition." So we might actually be playing Chester

just saw it on sky sports, you've got chester (subject to bury appeal) Yup, full story: Bury have been thrown out of the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player in their 3-1 second-round replay win over Chester City on 12 December. Chester have now been reinstated in the competition and will play Ipswich in the third round, as well as receiving the prize due to second-round winners. Bury can appeal against the decision, and any hearing will take place on Thursday 28 December. The case relates to Stephen Turnbull, who is a loan signing from Hartlepool. An FA statement said: "Bury selected Turnbull without receiving the required permission from Hartlepool United and lodging that permission with The FA. "Bury also failed to comply with the required timescales for registration of players for the FA Cup."

Yet West H*m in 1999/2000 played a cup tied player, Manny Omoyinmi, in the League cup and the FA in the end let them replay it.
Leeds united also recently broke a big rule and had one too many loan players and all they got was a flipping tiny little fine.
One rule for one, another rule for another!
Would the same punishment have happened if someone like Chelsea (I know it's very very unlikely to happen) commited the same offence? I do doubt it. Money talks.
