Some of us manage to read between the lines, at least That's the trouble with online chat... you'll only get 10% of the communication you get in face-to-face conversation (70% body/facial language, 20% tone of voice, and 10% what you actually say) Ahhh the old Eddie Izzard thing of ........... '70% is how you look 20% is how you sound and only 10% is what you actually say!!' Which is why no one notices that Americans don't know the words to their own national anthem!! Very well noted - the thing is, what he says in that little bit of that skit is entirely factual!

It is enormously hard to detect tone... I never really know if people are hurt or just pretending on here, or when teasing goes too far, or when people are being sarcastic (often). I'm coming to the general conclusion that I'd happily have a pint with many of the people here though! Which is fortunate, as I will hopefully be doing so!!! ;D

I was obviously overestimating peoples ability to read between the lines .............. I shall attempt to be more linear, conformist and boring!! That's all well and good but when the lines seem to change depending on whatever mood you're in that day, it's therefore hard to judge. But you can't deny that you do provoke. A patient says, "Doctor, last night I made a Freudian slip. I was having dinner with my Mother In Law, and I wanted to say, "Could you please pass the butter?" "But instead I said, "You silly cow, you have completely ruined my life." ........... thank you, I'll be here all week!! Is this better??

No cutting quip Jules, it's not my argument!!! Merely a couple of lines from a song ;D But there wasn't any argument......and then there seemed to be......and basically we're all either argumentative or short or misguided, or a combination of the three! Very lovely song quote though, thank you JJ <punches arm, cos that's how men show affection> btw - glad you understand now Mrs H!
