well thats that for this season then gutted we haven't added to our squad is the current bunch good enough for promotion ? open to interpretation i guess.....
but i will say this.. walters missing the run in, counago 3 game ban, kuqi not 100% fit even when back, naylor out till the end of the season, and poor defensively, i dont think we will make the play offs if im totally honest.
other side of the coin = its not the best league ever this season. we shall see - but for me we needed 1 or 2 in before the deadline to freshen it up and add class, given the budget its an opportunity wasted. ie - palace sign up Scott Sinclair. Shame....

Emile Mpenza linked with a free transfer in the summer as his contracts up the end of the season. Man City have an option to extend for another 2 years but seems unlikely with the amount of games he's played this season

Right. Here comes a one-month-long update from a very lazy NCA. Not that I think anyone cares at the moment! Lol! ;D People linked since 21st March: - David Healy - Fulham striker was again linked with one more loan bid before the window closed, but no such bid happened. However, the player is now being linked with a summer move.
- Abdoulaye Méïté - Bolton defender, Magilton confirmed Town had a loan bid turned down.
- Shola Ameobi - Newcastle striker linked with loan deal before loan window closed, eventually moved to Stoke on loan.
[/color][/b] [/li][li]Martin Paterson - Scunthorpe striker linked with summer move. [/li][li]Sammy Clingan - Nottingham Forest midfielder linked with £1m summer deal, though with the player out-of-contract at the end of the season, this figure will probably be reduced. [/li][li]Ian Harte - Sunderland defender linked with summer move. [/li][li]Alan Mannus - Linfield goalkeeper linked with summer move. [/li][li]Marcel Seip - Plymouth defender linked with summer move having been placed on the transfer list by Paul Sturrock. [/li][li]Emile Mpenza – Manchester City striker linked with summer move. Rumours of Town's summer targets are already starting to emerge. There has been renewed speculation that Magilton is interested in signing Titus Bramble, Peter Thompson, Thomas Sorensen and Gareth McAuley - the fourth of which is seen most likely to be on his way to Portman Road following Leicester's relegation to League One. Also linked is his colleague at the Walkers, Richard Stearman, though there is also thought to be interest from numerous Premiership clubs. You may also notice that the Rumour Mill Front Page has had its annual clearout in time for the 2008/09 season - well, it's that time of year again!! And no, I don't hang about! ;D

Right. Here I go again...! Another big chunky update to the rumour mill - and you'd be surprised just how much has been going on... Magilton has confirmed that he did try to sign Thomas Sorensen during the January transfer window, but the suggestion is that the ex-Villa keeper is only interested either in a Premier League or Danish club. There has yet to be any activity concerning Gareth McAuley despite numerous mentions within the media including rumours of a £1million bid being on the cards and possible interest from QPR, but there has however been action regarding another defensive target. Heerenveen's Pim Balkestein has been on trial at Portman Road for the last week and is thought to have impressed enough to be offered a deal. If this does not happen, a vast number of other potential defensive targets have been identified: - Shrewsbury right-back Ben Herd
- Sunderland's Ian Harte (again)
- Millwall centre-back Paul Robinson (who claims he is happy at the New Den)
- New England Revolution centre-back Michael Parkhurst (possibly recommended to Bryan Klug by manager Paul Mariner)
- Helsingborgs' on-loan Wigan centre-back Andreas Granqvist (possibly watched in a recent Helsingborgs vs Malmö match)
- Malmo left-back Behrang Safari (also possibly watched at that game)
- Derby centre-back Dean Leacock
- Derby defender and former Town loanee Jay McEveley
- NEC Nijmegen defender Jonas Olsson (according to reports in Holland)
- FC Sion central defender Obinna Nwaneri (according to reports in Switzerland)
- Fulham defender Carlos Bocanegra (recently released)
Unfortunately, one defender Town look unlikely to be signing is on-loan Danny Simpson who is thought to be back in Sir Alex Ferguson's plans at Manchester United. Town are also thought to be hunting for keepers - Stephen Bywater and Nick Colgan are yet to be offered extended deals at Portman Road and it is thought Magilton already has others lined up. As well as Sorensen, Jim has confirmed his interest in re-signing West Ham's Richard Wright following unsuccessful efforts last summer, but others linked include Linfield's Alan Mannus (again), Northampton's Mark Bunn, Carlisle's Keiren Westwood, Liverpool's young keeper David Martin and Club Brugge’s Stijn Stijnen (possibly on the recommendation of recently released goalkeeping coach Andy Rhodes.) New strikers are also being considered. AS Nancy striker Marc-Antoine Fortuné was reported to have turned down offers from Ipswich and West Brom, though this looks unlikely. Other strikers linked include David Healy (again, although he has stated that he is committed to Fulham), Riga (again, possibly recently watched by Steve Foley at Levante vs Valencia), Helsisngborgs top-scorer Razak Omotoyossi, Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford and, most notably, Man City striker Emile Mpenza. Mpenza's agent Rachid Tajmout claims that Town have already held talks with the striker and will soon make an offer, though this has yet to be confirmed by anyone at Portman Road and numerous other clubs such as Reading, Bolton, Trabzonspor and Leicester are also reported to be interested. Despite numerous midfield players either being deemed surplus to requirements or, in the case of Legwinski, considering retiring from football altogether, only one potential midfield target has been linked - Nottingham Forest's Sammy Clingan is once again reported to be a target with a potential £1m bid in the pipeline. Phew - see, told ya there was a lot!! Lol!! ;D

Leicester have not received any bids for Gareth McAuley, according to chief executive Paul Aldridge. Reports earlier in the week had suggested that Town had made another £1m bid for the Northern Ireland international defender which had been rejected by the recently-relegated Foxes. Another defender who Town are being heavily linked with but are yet to make an offer for is Dagenham & Redbridge's Scott Griffiths.
Other potential targets recently linked include Plymouth's Peter Halmosi, as well as renewed rumours concerning Sheffield United's Danny Webber, Nottingham Forest midfielder Sammy Clingan and Carlisle's Keiren Westwood. Town are potentially one of three clubs reported to have made enquiries about the young keeper.

Some big news in the rumour mill today. According to Derek Bowden, Town are on the verge of completing their first signing of the summer. As already anticipated following his successful trial last month, it seems that Heerenveen defender Pim Balkestein has indeed been offered a contract by the club and, subject to a medical, the deal looks almost done. Not exactly the most high profile start, but it is definitely a start nonetheless. HOWEVER... Arguably far more interesting than this is the news that Town may be closing in on a second signing. According to reports on TWTD, Town have had a £3.5m offer for Shola Ameobi accepted by Newcastle. According to Green'Un, Magilton faces stiff competition with Stoke and Norwich for the striker. It all seems a bit beyond Town to some extent so one would be cautious to accept such rumours at this stage, but it is definitely one to keep your eyes on over the next couple of days. If it does indeed happen, it'll be a big signing for Magilton. These aren't the only Town rumours to have emerged in the last few days. As reported widely throughout the football media, Cardiff have confirmed that they have turned down a £1m bid from Ipswich for defender Roger Johnson. If tabloid reports that Cardiff have priced Johnson at over £3m are to be believed, it is unlikely that Town will be able to land such a target. Ipswich are also unlikely to sign Emile Mpenza despite speculation earlier in the month that a deal may have been close. Derek Bowden has confirmed that the club did hold talks with Mpenza's agent but that there shall be no further pursuit of the Man City striker. Another striker recently linked with a possible move is West Brom's Kevin Phillips amidst speculation that the 34-year-old is stalling over signing a new contract. However, other reports suggest that Derby are leading the chase for Phillips should he decide to leave The Hawthorns. Other names recently linked include Blackpool's Kaspars Gorkss (though this seems an unlikely move according to TWTD), Plymouth's Peter Halmosi, Sunderland's Ian Harte (again), Fulham's Antti Niemi, Southend's Nicky Bailey (according to VitalFootball) and FSV Mainz 05 defender Nikolce Noveski, an international team-mate of Velice Sumulikoski who Steve McCall is believed to have watched in a recent Macedonia v Poland match. Stories are also emerging that Gareth McAuley may hand in a transfer request at Leicester in order to pave the way for his widely-anticipated move to Portman Road.
