Bent will go to the World Cup. However despite the potential financial gains to Ipswich I don't think that he is ready. Look at the statistics he has completely tailed off towards the end of the season although that is probably more to do with playing for Charlton than anything else. When he played against Uruguay though he didn't impress at all. I would take Owen, Rooney, Defoe, Crouch and Beattie myself. Go for a physical presence as a back up rather than someone with pace.

me thinks bent is ahead of defoe ne way judging by last international where he started
problem in england is ppl aren't " ready " till their 26 or so...........
thats y england will never win a major championship until they abandon that !!!!

Rooney has 2 broken bones or something now. Apparently he can be substituted upto 24 hours before the first game as FIFA acknowledge he has a serious injury. I hope Sven will take 5 strikers at the start and benty will be among them. However if he does only take 4 and Defoe is in front of him, he may well be switched for Rooney, who I doubt is going to play at all

Johnson has been forced to pull out of the squad, Rooney is not at his best. Will Benty be given more than 10 mins to prove himself and Town get the cash?
