To be honest, i don't think Blackwell is the right man for us........ the Championship is going to much tougher next season and we need a much mroe convincing man to lead our team..... My main problems with him are- - Motivational Skills -Poor Tactics -Buys too many strikers, waste of money -Got an excuse for everything But to be fair he has turned our club around, i just can't see him taking it any further..... however i am prepared to let him have 1 mroe season to prove me wrong, if we don't go up next season he has to go..... Would agree with that. Got a funny feeling though that KB will not take much more of his inadequancies and may look to dump him pretty quick if we have a poor start to season but yes he has done a good job so far

Not been on in a while so not posted on this particular thread yet.
Belatedly, despite the disappointment in missing out in the playoffs, I will still back Blackwell 100% next year. After that depends on our success, but he surely deserves to stay for at least one more season after overseeing our turnaround and helping to bring the club back from the brink. Sure, he's not perfect and I would swap him for O'Neill like a shot if ever the situation arose, but he's proven himself to be a good asset to Leeds United and if he can take us up next year I would like to see him given a chance to manage us in the Prem, (at least until Xmas anyway!)

If he doesn't do very well up to christmas and we sack him, it's going to mess up our promotion campaign, so I think we have two options:
1) Get a new manager in now, let him make some signings etc. and hopefully go up. I'd like to seee Martin Allen as Leeds manager, I think he could do a good job and I think he's a better manager than Blackwell. 2)Keep him, and stick with him to the end of the season, regardless of position (as long as we're safe).

When he first became manager of us he predicted it would take us 3 seasons to get back in the Prem. We've just completed the end of season 2 and we're not doing badly at all! KB took a job that no-one else would touch with a barge pole (who has a barge pole? )..at least lets show him the respect of seeing his plan through (which he will fulfil)

The new season will make or break Mr Blackwell, Leeds have planned to make it this season. The last two years have shown steady progress. The Club wants to win not just survive, i think Blackwell will surprise many.A lot of our tactics were limited, to securing points rather than winning games. Leeds are no longer easy to beat and the club has an infrastructure to develop talent again, we got to the playoffs with a squad that had peaked. Southampton and the Wigan games showed a team with a fighting spirit and no longer happy to be there or there abouts....

Get rid of Blackwell he hasn't got the ability to get us up, it showed in the final when he played 4-5-1 and had two strikers on the bench, he's tactically inept and lacks the ability to motivate players for big games. All last season and the season before we couldn't beat weaker teams in the division and if the same happens again we ain't gonna challenge at the top for the tilte, sort it out batsey and get a decent manager in charge, Leeds utd deserve better, don't let him bring his own players in then sack him through the season act know before it's too late!

I don't think getting rid of Blackweel is the right thing to do at the moment. Alright - his tactics sometimes leave us scratching our heads, but I think that can be fixed with a decent 1st team coach.

Still think he should stay although now Bates has steadied the ship, maybe more managers would consider the job if offered it, after all, when KB was appointed, no one wanted the job at all..

Havent read the full full thred because im pissed and cannot be arsed. BUT how anyone can slag KB off is beyond me, he took a team into the play-off final (ok we bottled it) that was within 24hrs of exintion 16 months ago! Bear in mind nobody would go near Leeds when KB took over speaks for itself, but he has transformed the club, to be talking about getting rid of him because he has not yet dealt in the transfer market is stupid! Bates give the fella a 3 year contract and he is no mug. So before you criticise give him a chance, because for me he has only had one normal season!!
Either way my season ticket is getting renewed!

Mmm - football is a results driven business and we, as fans, want our team to do well - it's why we support them!
That said, how many managers get is right every time with a new signing?!!! I doubt any of us can name a manger who has signed a belter every time.
Bates is no mug, but he has given KB a three year deal - he is well into year one, but IMHO, IF we get back to the Prem (where we belong), we need to have a sound base to survive more than one season - mainly financially. Long gone are the days of renting fish!!
KB deserves another season - we got to the playoffs and Watford's gameplan was better on the day. That is not a bad season for any League team as far as I can see.
I am concerned at the lack of activity - but - losing the higher earners gives us a chance to bring in hungrier players looking to progress and show their ability.
Wier is a class act but too old - we should be looking to spend wisely

As a neutral in this debate I have to say anyone saying get rid of Blackwell is crazy. I had the oppurtunity to meet him a few times in the last 10 years or so and he has the brain of a world class Manager. From his days down here at Home Park as Assistant manager and Goalkeeper to managing you. If you get rid of him i truely believe you wont be able to get a better more qualifed manager than him.
