That table is a bit suspicious.
Population of Britain - about 60 million?
Total people supporting a club in that list - just short of 25 million.
Think about the people that have absolutely no interest in football at all (yes there are some!) take off another few million.
Even an average Premiership side is going to have a fanbase of half a million. That leaves no fans for other clubs like Reading and Sheffield United...

Not denying that they are popular teams. But you cannot get a balanced poll from a mere 5,000 people.
Especially when you ask people in Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow to vote. You don't see many Accrington Stanley fans in Glasgow.

You don't see many Accrington Stanley fans in Glasgow. A poll with 5000 is actually quite a large number. Many opinion polls during elections use a sample of around 1000, often 800 or 900. Obviously, being a survey it will not be entirely accurate, but the general order and numbers are probably a fairly good representation. Anomalies may exist: for instance, the Sheffield Wednesday fans may be too embarrassed to say (to answer a point above).

But if you asked 5000 people at the Walkers Stadium who was best, its going to be just as 'right' as this one. Political allegience is not as restricted to area as football support. Would have had to ask 5000 people from all over the country to get a 'fair' reading. I would be surprised if the went any further south-west than Birmingham to get opinions. You can prove anything with facts. Can't we just take Man U from the poll and split their votes among teams that have beaten Reading this year?
