Hello Leeds fans,
I watched your play-off semi final clash yesterday with Preston. Personally, I felt the first half was quite tedious, both teams looked tired after a long, hard season and neither side really created much rhythm, with alot of unforced errors such as mistimed passes happening. But I think Leeds shaded it, having the more significant chances and were unlucky not to be in front, when Kilgallon's header hit the post.
Then really against the run of things, Nugent stuck Preston ahead minutes after the restart, after he wriggled past a number of defenders after receiving the ball from 25 yards out, slotting it past an on rushing Neil Sullivan. I thought the Leeds defence could of dealt with it alot better, but credit to Nugent for his persistence.
I thought Preston would push on from there, but they tried to consolidate things, and I think substituting O'Neil and Nugent after 65 minutes, perhaps gave Leeds the lift needed to get back into the game. And how. A trademark curling 20 yard free kick from Lewis with 15 minutes to go, left Nash without a chance and Graham Alexander with egg on his face. Usually assured, he was caught out of position as the ball deflected in him off, as he tried to get back to defend on the post, where he should have been in the first place.
It was a close game yesterday and will be likewise on Monday. I think generally a draw was a fair result. Perhaps Leeds will be going into the game with the tougher task, but its all square so it'd be foolish to write you off, I mean anything can happen in the play-offs. Personally I prefer to see Preston go through, but I wish you all the best!
Good luck
