Steve Stone may make the end of season play-offs after stepping up his recovery from injury
The former England international has yet to play for Leeds following his summer move from Portsmouth, after suffering an Achilles problem in pre-season.
He is back in training however, and could give Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell a real boost, with the Whites poor run of form making automatic promotion a distant possibility.
Blackwell said: "Steve has started running again, but I'm putting him under no pressure at all. He hasn't played football for almost a year so it would be wrong of me to expect anything from him.
"But I've never written him out and if there's a chance there's a chance.
"Stoney has been out for a long, long time and when you've been in that position there are so many conundrums.
"If he plays it is a big, big bonus, but the last thing I'm going to do is put him under any pressure at all."

That's good news - might be the kick up the arse the likes of Hulse and Healy need!

Stone Looking Good ;D ;D ;D
United winger Steve Stone made his first appearance for the club as Leeds reserves drew 1-1 away to Sunderland.
The 34-year-old was marking his return from a serious Achilles tendon injury that, combined with the added problem of infection, has kept him out of action since the first week of pre-season training.
He played 35 minutes as a second half after replacing striker Tomi Ameobi and came through the game without any problem at all and may now be given a full half in next week's reserve game against Everton at Elland Road.
Although it was his first real football for eight months, the former Portsmouth man looked comfortable on the ball and showed signs of the pace and crossing ability that are a big part of his game.
In the game itself Leeds were unlucky not to come away from Durham's Archibalds Stadium with all three points after Jermaine Beckford had given United the lead with his second goal for the reserves.
Beckford converted a Tomi Ameobi pass on 14 minutes, sidefooting it home as Leeds capitalised on a mistake by Black Cats defender Peter Hartley.
The home side levelled before half time though with former United youngster Martin Woods managing to squeeze a free-kick through the wall and past Ian Bennett.
Ameobi had a couple of good chances to make his mark on the game on his first start, and Joel Griffiths also tested the Sunderland keeper but Leeds were forced to settle for a point.
United: Bennett, Madden, Harding, Hird, McKeown, Bayly (Camfield 55), Griffiths, Gray, Beckford, Ameobi (Stone 55), Parker. Subs not used: Gardner, Howson, Brown.
