Two Leeds youngsters look set to join Chelsea after turning down scholarship deals offered to them by the Elland Road club Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods are among 12 players offered the deals by Leeds, but chief executive officer Shaun Harvey revealed the deals have been turned down.
He told his club's official website: "They have been released and are on trial at Chelsea. If they sign for another professional club we will be entitled to compensation."
But there was better news for United after another of their highly-rated youngsters - 15-year-old midfielder Danny Rose - turned down the Blues to stay with United.
Harvey added: "We are delighted at his decision.
"He was the subject of an offer from Chelsea, but we turned that down. We believe that both his and our best long-term footballing interests are best served if his future is with Leeds United."
Fairplay to Rose!

Leeds could be in the money Leeds United chairman Ken Bates is set to launch a massive £24 million compensation claim against his old club Chelsea. The former Blues supremo is angry after two of Leeds' young England academy stars were allegedly poached by the champions. Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods have been offered academy contracts on July 1 by the London club, after turning down scholarship deals put to them by Leeds. But Bates is convinced that there is 'damning' evidence of an illegal approach, and insists he will not back down. "We are talking about two of the best young players in the country who are the same age as Theo Walcott, who has just joined Arsenal for £12 million," Bates told the Daily Express. "If Walcott is valued at £12 million for a 16-year-old, so our boys of the same age can be valued at £12 million each. There is a principle here, surely clubs will abandon their academies if their players are nicked by the Premiership elite. "Put it this way, our claim will be a damn sight higher than the £200,000 offered by Chelsea." Leeds chief executive Shaun Harvey believes the club will be entitled to compensation should the pair accept the offer. "They have been released and are on trial at Chelsea," he said. "If they sign for another professional club we are entitled to compensation." Meanwhile goalkeeper Neil Sullivan has opened talks about a new contract.

That'd be a nice bonus. Makes a change for a club to stand up to Chelsea - I think the only reason they act and behave like they do is because noone challenges or stands up to them.
