Not given up on promotion yet have you!? Can't really do much worse in the play offs than last season.
As for us, very depressing stuff, particularly with Wednesday having 2 games in hand.
19 Barnsley P36 43 pts 20 Southampton P37 42 pts 21 Leicester P37 41 pts _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 22 Sheff Weds P35 39 pts 23 Scunthorpe P36 35 pts 24 Colchester P36 32 pts
Today, I thought we played very well, dominating against Bristol City from start to finish...missing some very very clear chances and forcing the goalkeeper in to some brilliant saves. Bristol hit the woodwork twice but that is all I can recall them doing really. They came for a point and got it. It feels like a loss.
The lack of ability to finish is concerning. Over 6 hours since a Leicester City player scored a goal I think. But in a way I would rather this than getting a point without creating anything.
The players showed today the occasional flashes which they have previously shown that they CAN perform in this league so they need to start doing it more regularly. No excuses.
West Brom away and Southampton away next. We should lose both which will no doubt put us in the bottom 3, but if we play like I know we can, and find some scoring boots, there is no reason why we can't at least draw the 2 games. A result at Southampton is especially important.
Henderson 6
Stearman 7 N'Gotty 7 McAuley 6 Clapham 6
Etuhu 7 Oakley 6 *Hendrie 8* Hume 6
Howard 5 Campbell 6
Subs:
Fryatt 5.5 Mattock 7 Hayles 6

Bet Holloway is breathing a sigh of relief though???

How come? I maybe would have taken a point before the match. But we fully deserved and needed 3 points today and didn't get them, so I suspect he is pretty disappointed. Made all the worse of course by Preston, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry winning.

I think Milan is reluctantly trying to sit it out. He signed 2 new players (on loan) this week. I would think that he wouldn't give him the chance to get his players in if he was seriously considering removing him.
Events of course may transpire that force his hand...if we get sucked into the bottom 3. We shall see.
I am strangely quite happy that we have 2 away games now, so I don't have to have the pain of watching it!

Yep he does seem to stand behind Holloway doesn't he... mind you I can't help but wonder what he must think. He was so desperate to get to the Premiership with a team and the team he left behind are doing well in that department (well we are trying we just keep messing up!) I just wonder what he must be thinking when he see's that

I'm not sure, promotion was never on the cards for us when he joined, we were too far off it then. Whether he thought that too I don't know. He can't have expected we would go backwards though and be mired in a very real relegation dog fight. His record is: Won 6 Drawn 6 Lost 11 I'm suspect he is probably quite bitter when he sees where you are, although promotion is probably a possibility rather than a probability. If, and it is a bif if, we are in the same league next year, it could be interesting. We need you to beat Scunny please.

I don't think we will get promoted, it would be a nice thought, but realistically if you can't beat a team 11 places below you - at home - then we will definitely struggle - I agree with you on the possibility/probability thing! I would just love to get to the play off final and go to Wembley and see the boys play, it would be a dream come true - even if we lost. We will do our best against Scunthorpe for you - but I can assure you it will be 3 points for our promotion hopes not as a favour for Holloway

That is very true and he got roundly criticised at the time for it too. It could happen, but I get the impression that if he was going to do it, then he already would have. You make your own luck Gres, and our problem today was our strikers can't hit a barn door at 10 paces. 5 of them played a part and they all missed clear chances. On the bright side Bristol didn't romp up the field in the last minute and score. When we get in the bottom 3, I still get the feeling that the players think they are too good to be where they are (which they perhaps are) and they think things will start going for them one day. Thing is they have to work to turn their fortunes.

It is great! We've only ever won when I have been to Wembley and it was many many years ago, but its a really special atmosphere. Promotion like that feels so much better than automatic. The 2 go hand in hand. What we really need is for you to beat Wednesday if you have them before the end of the season.

I would just love to go and experience the Wembley atmosphere which I would imagine is special for any game, but especially when its your own team - maybe one day - who knows! We have Sheff Wed on a Monday 14th April so you can watch us on Sky Sports and be an honourary Argyle fan and back my boys!!!

Very true. It may also bring some reality and comeradery to the situation though. We have home games against Colchester, Scunny and Wednesday before the end of the season, but like in the Preston match the pressure seems to get too much in them. They will be key for us. I have my doubts...Leicester,Wednesday,Saints and to a lesser extent Cov - looks to be one of the bigger teams going down in that 3rd spot - no reason for it not to be us.

Is that why you are so keen to leave it then Gres? Thing is - I don't mean to sound horrid - but I don't want my boys to be like Derby and struggle and lose a load of games. Yeah yeah the money would be good etc etc... but I don't want to sit there and prop everyone else in the League up - guess we'll be the strongest though

its a double edged sword - the money can set you up for years (especially if you dont spend much of it like us) but its painful seeing your side getting outplayed every week.
I never expected us to do well, just not as shit as we have. Oh well, we'll be back!
