He could be tempted. 19th, 1 point above us and a game in hand, Coventry are clearly a club moving in the right direction. And they have a new chairman with a bit of money. Who could resist? Listening to Ranson's comments today, they sound all too similar to Milan when he's sacking managers. I would have held on to Dowie, and given him some kind of money to spend in the summer.

Also Mandaric was talking about his 1st year at the club on RL today saying:
"It feels like 12 years. It's not the easiest year in my life but I am enthusiastic and it's a great opportunity.
"We are not even near where I wanted to be or where I planned to be.
"But I have to keep working on it and surround myself with the people that will help me to get there and you have to look to the big picture."
"I gave my life to this club for the last 12 months, and millions of pounds, and I don't see as good progress as I wanted."
_ _ _ _ _
He isn't happy. Part of the problem he hasn't helped but Holloway can take no comfort in these comments. Holloway actually sounds like a manager who knows he is under pressure and isn't his normal self. Fold in the next 2, which we might (Watford away, Norwich home) and I reckon he will be gone.
Not something I want to see mind, he has had a very poor start but we can't get any better. I remain hopeful Holloway will get some sort of team spirit going. Slagging off the players in the media isn't helping and I think he is beginning to realise this.

"...he has had a very poor start but we can't get any better." Err, are you absolutely sure that you've got that right?!

"...he has had a very poor start but we can't get any better." Err, are you absolutely sure that you've got that right?! yes! ;D We're worse than Newcastle with managers, so no decent manager with a right mind would come here. Billy Davies might get them into shape but we'd get Dowie and I don't fancy that. We've changed things time and time again to no effect. Don't get me wrong, Ollie needs to buck up his ideas and get the team playing at least somewhere vaguely near their potential but whilst we're not getting stuck in the bottom 3, I would stick with it. He did alright with you and we have to play 4 teams below us at home before the end of the season.

Spent £11 million in his first year apparently. Had 5 managers and signed 28 players. Seemingly it could be 6 managers soon. Not spent more than £5 mill on transfer fees so huge amounts wasted on wages for average to poor players, and paying players and managers off.
Holloway will live and die by his results. If he improves them significantly he has nothing to worry about.

I'm not sure he can. I wondered about the whole thing right from that very first press conference when he went on about losing and how the chairman was going to have to tolerate it. Hollowords looked uncomfortable and Mandaric distinctly annoyed. I wonder if a slot in the media is what is next as he tries to set himself up as the next Cheeky chappie Jimmy Greaves type persona. What a revolting thought. Good luck Leicester - think you may need it! Geo, I feel for you, I really do. I just cannot get the idea of karma out of my head...

Haha funny you should say that because I thought exactly the same thing at the time. I think the relationship has been a bit uneasy and I don't think he appreciates Holloway mouthing off about anything and everything..."my chairman thinks this, my chairman that" etc. But the last thing I think Milan wants to do is sack another manager and he will be forced into it by circumstances if it happens. I'm getting the impression, that since Holloway has been slating the players, as individuals or as a group, he is losing or has lost the dressing room. He jsut can't seem to motivate them. Milan could not have expected this when he hired him, and gave him significant money to spend in Jan.

Something finally clicked? Or were Norwich really that bad?

Well Norwich were really bad as to be expected with a score like that. But we were really good too and did lots of things right which made me happy. Too early to say if something has clicked....there have been many false dawns. On occasions over the past 4 years we have played brilliantly and can mix it with the best on our day but it has been very rare. The key test will be what happens if we concede first in our next game. Because over and over and over again, when this happens, the players' heads drop and they fail to respond positively. I hope so though!
