Caretaker happy to fill in, Mandaric reveals Royle liking.... Burrows: Happy to fill in Leicester City caretaker manager Frank Burrows insists he is more than happy to fill in as boss until chairman Milan Mandaric finds a successor for Gary Megson.
Burrows became the fifth man to take charge of the Foxes in six turbulent months under Mandaric after Megson's protracted departure to Premier League strugglers Bolton was concluded on Thursday.
The Scottish coach led Leicester to a 2-0 win over Barnsley on Saturday, and Burrows has explained that he will manage the side for as long as Mandaric requires.
Fabulous
"What's not to like about being manager of Leicester City?" he said.
"We've got a fabulous stadium and facilities and we are determined to get back into the Premier League and that is what we had to concentrate on this week.
"We knew it wouldn't be easy to beat Barnsley and it was a messy preparation for the game so I was delighted to win.
"I'm under contract here and I've told the chairman that I'll run the football team until he tells me different.
"Gary said they were happy with the staff at Bolton and he won't be taking me with him. I've told the chairman that I won't go anywhere as long as he wants me.
"I just want to stop the talk about Gary Megson and Bolton. This is Leicester City. The ongoing speculation won't affect me at all as it's not my decision.
"It's the chairman's decision and it is a big decision. He will get it right and if it takes a week or a month the important thing is he gets the right man."
Royle interest
Meanwhile, Mandaric has revealed his interest in Joe Royle, who he believes might well have the credentials to take over at the Walkers Stadium.
"Everything I hear about him is good both as a manager and a man and that commands respect. I've been told he'd fit my style," he told the News of the World.

Only if you love the long ball and having the lame arse excuse that your youngsters are too young. Credit where it's due though, he took us to 3rd and then had to deal with that squad being ripped to shreads. He works well with little money, but I think his techniques are getting a bit old...

Great sounds just like the kind of guy we need! I don't love the long ball, and I hope it left with megson to Bolton. mmmm 3rd would do us though!

Yes, 3rd was lovely, but it was blooming West Ham again. He took us to 7th (I think after having been bottom when he took charge), 5th and 3rd. When we didn't beat West Ham that was it for the squad he'd built up and it was ripped apart. And that was probably it for him as our manager, as we finished mid-table and he left us by mutual constent. I'm probably being unfair on him, in that summer of 2005 after the play-off semi lost, we lost 40 goals in Kuqi, Bent and Miller. So it was always going to hit us very, very hard. He might do alright for you, but whether he'd come back into managing is up to him to decide.

He's somebody I'd not thought of before and definitely better than some of the usual rubbish we get linked with every time we are looking for a new manager (every 6 weeks ). Sounds like he did a pretty good job. 3 years near or in the playoffs, just couldn't make that last step. I don't think I'd be disappointed if it was Joe Royle actually....and if he can find us a striker who can score regularly then we're well on the way!

Thats not his fault though, surely the chairman's? Whether because the squad was good, more was expected I don't know.

just because a manager gets a team to a good position in the league, doesn't mean he's any good though!
the season we were promoted warnock cost us at least 20 odd points!

Mmm not sure I agree. We have the nucleus of a good team...not complete for sure but none of our several recent previous managers have got any sort of consistency out of them. If one can and gets them in the top 10, then in my eyes he has done a decent job!

he didn't do a good job. he had a good squad which ipswich couldn't afford! Indeed. And then in his last season with us, he had bad luck with injuries. But not getting us to the play-off final two years in succession was really the last straw.

Its not great but its not bad. We are lacking in some areas, particularly back up in midfield and a decent striker.
But Fulop may be the best gk in the league. Statistically we have the best defence. Clemence and Weso are as good as midfielders as you will find in the league, just always injured. Hume good. Fryatt, Collins John and DJ Campbell are reasonable but we do need a proven goalscorer.
Our academy won the Premier Academy League last year and is one of the best in the country. We have Milan's money too.
So theres plenty to draw upon....

in my eyes Clemence, Hume, Fryatt and DJ Campbell are all over-rated.
i've never rated clemence. Hume and Fryatt seem to show flashes of quality, but not consistentally. DJ Campbell - flushed your money down the toilet ;D

Clemence was Birmingham's voted player of the season last year.
I think Hume and Clemence are good. Hume doesn't get enough chances in the 18 yeard box for a striker but works so hard as a team player and yesterdays's position of attacking midfield suited him I felt.
DJ Campbell agreed a waste of money. Fryatt misses far too many chances but I'm hoping its a confidence thing...
