City defender Clive Clarke has spoken about the events at the City Ground midweek for the first time - here's what he had to say, from the LCFC website:
"I know I'm extremely fortunate to be here. In light of recent events involving football players who have suffered massive heart attacks, Im the really lucky one; I've survived and lived to tell the tale."
"I can't recall anything other than the moment I passed out in the dressing room. I remember feeling a bit lethargic on the field in the first half and I was involved in a collision with our keeper Paul Henderson that led to their goal".
"I'm not sure it bore any relation to what happened though. I vaguely remember leaving the field and entering the dressing room. I sat quietly in the corner and felt a bit queasy. I can recall Patrick Kisnorbo talking to me but it wasn't really registering. Then I just passed out."
"The next thing I knew, I was in an ambulance and on my way to a Nottingham hospital. To say I was startled was an understatement. All I could think about was my family and my young daughter. It kind of puts things into perspective when something like this happens. Football is unimportant. When they informed me what had happened, the blood drained from my body. I just thought, I could be dead and I might never have seen my family again."
"It's fair to say by the time I arrived at the hospital I was in a right state. I barely had two hours sleep that night because I was too frightened to shut my eyes in case I didn't wake up."
"I've not had the best of luck in my career with injuries and whatever, but I know I'm an extremely fortunate person to be sitting here."
"Obviously it was very stressful for my family but they are just glad I seem to be ok and on the mend. I'm having a series of tests but at the moment the doctors have no idea what brought this on."
"But all I want to do now is make a full and rapid recovery and get back to playing football. I've been so happy since I came to Leicester. The players and the supporters have been great, I've got games under my belt and it's a fantastic club to be at. Unfortunately just when things are going well, this happens but as I said I'm the lucky one. When you think about the Seville player Antonio Puerta who collapsed on saturday and died on tuesday, and Mark-Vivien Foe who had a heart attack and never recovered."
"Well it goes without saying that a day won't pass when I don't cherish every moment in my life".
