Leicester City have beaten off competition from four Premiership clubs to capture Iranian international winger Hossein Kaebi. The 21-year-old joins the Foxes from Iranian side Persepolis FC for an undisclosed fee, and has signed a two-year-contract with the club. Kaebi, who as an 18-year-old was named in World Soccer Magazine's top 10 most promising players, followed through his initial promise with some impressive performances for his country in the 2006 World Cup. Kaebi broke on to the international scene at the tender age of 16, and has gone on to gather an impressive 50 caps for his country to date www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~1068063,00.html

Finally a signing that I'm genuinely excited and pleased about.
This lad is quality.

So....it seems accoriding to the Leicester Mercury that he hasn't vanished off the face of the earth without any trace with a mysterious 'injury' but we are having trouble with international clearance (aka work permit ) for the Prince of Persia. Bit worrying.

Bit worrying. Should think it's nothing Geo. 99% of the time it's just a lot of red tape, remembering of course that Iran isn't exactly the most stable part of the world, so the paperwork will almost inevitably take longer to sort out.

Looks like you're right. All sorted now according to persianfootball.com! Kaebi can officially play for Leicester City PFDC - TEHRAN, Iranian International playmaker Hossein Kaebi who recently signed with EPL outfits Leicester City FC, was waiting for the Transfer Card (ITC) to be issued by his former club Persepolis of Tehran before he could get playing time at his new club. The Persepolis club manager, Kashani issued Kaebi's transfer card this morning for him to officially play for Leicester city now. Hossein Kaebi who has been a shining star for Iran's football national team in the recent years has already played for Iran in the world cup and is expected to do well in England due to his wonderful speed and agility.

Glad to hear it too, he's a real quality player, looking forward to seeing him in action. U reckon he will play on Saturday v Watford? Or maybe even make his debut against Forest next week?

He looks it on youtube anyway!
I doubt it, he's not even played in a friendly. Hopefully he's on the bench Saturday and if we're not raggedly defending a 1 goal lead in the second half, he may bring him on.

Banned from playing for Iran by the Iranian government for wearing a green armband in support of the opposition.
