Seems a bit harsh - is it a money saving exercise of somin else? Wonder what will happen when the takeover goes through - will they ask him to come back?

Well the way I see it they have to pay him off now he's sacked, they wouldn't have had to if he went a few weeks later, but I guess they know what they're doing.

Or are you saying he funked the tea lady just so he could get sacked and recive a pay off? ;D

Luton Town manager Kevin Blackwell has been sacked from the financially stricken League One club which is currently in administration. Blackwell had already handed in his resignation on Friday and was due to leave the club on 9 February.
But a club statement said: "Brendan Guilfoyle, joint administrator of Luton Town, has terminated the contract of Kevin Blackwell with immediate effect."
Assistant manager Sam Ellis and coach John Carver has also left the Hatters.
On announcing he and his staff were to leave, Blackwell said last week: "We no longer have contracts that would require us to give notice but we are acutely aware that just to walk away would simply add to the short-term problems.
"We will therefore continue work under our basic terms and conditions for approximately one month, leaving the club after home game against Bournemouth on February 9."
Luton agreed a deal with a consortium led by television presenter Nick Owen to buy the club on Tuesday and are close to sealing the takeover.
Owen, who will be the club's non-executive chairman, said he had not spoken to Blackwell about the manager's future.
"I haven't spoken to him (Blackwell)," said Owen. "I'm more the face of the bid. I'm not going to be part of the decision-making process. I really can't make decisions or forecast what's going to happen."
Luton crashed out of the FA Cup on Tuesday after a 5-0 hammering to Liverpool and are third from bottom in League One after being given an obligatory 10-point deduction for entering administration in November last year.

I'm sure there'll be an unfair dismissal case like there was with us.

My assumption is that, because he'd tendered his notice, he'll only be paid off up to that period. I wonder if 2020 were consulted or have a replacement lined up? Lots of people are suggesting Mick Harford; I'm not so sure His record isn't exactly inspiring (9 wins from 41 games in charge at three clubs). He's a great coach though - maybe Martin Allen with Harford as #2?

Allen would be a good choice. Mick McCarthy ...Yeah you could trade MM for KB. Then you'd appreciate McCarthy!

Allen would be a good choice. I think, in general, he tends to get overhyped by the media because he's so 'different'. That said, though, I do think he's a solid manager, and could certainly do a job for us. I'm worried Harford would be another Ricky Hill (2 wins in 21), which would be a crying shame because he's a legend for us as a player, even if he has already walked out on us twice

Press conference due at 3pm...
Discussing it on Beeb 606, we're compiling a list of potential candidates:
Harford, maybe, but I don't like his record as manager. Get him in as #2. Allen? Out of work, has a decent record, might fancy the challenge, but could aim higher... KB reappointed? Could do worse, but I don't see it happening. Newell? Would be a big risk, IMO, and I'm not sure he can handle clubs in bad times. Raddy Antic - used to be in charge of Barcelona, pretty highly-rated, but has vowed to never join a club mid-season again following how his last one went. Might be expensive too. David Pleat - I can't see it, personally, though I'm sure he'd be welcomed. Bruce Rioch - hey, he took Bergkamp to Arsenal... Left Odense ten months ago to look after his ill wife, though; would he be available?

Other suggestions:
Shearer - We'd certainly fit the bill in his eyes, but I suspect his wages may be a bit steep for us. Personally, I'd rather have a man with a proven track record right now too - we desperately need to retain our League One status if we can help it. Shearer would certainly have respect in the dressing room, but is he tactically capable yet? I'd be happier taking him on if we were, say, mid-table and looking comfortable for survival.
Brian Horton or Danny Wilson - both good calls
Billy Davies - good call, probably too pricey for us!
Paul Ince - again, good call; can see him sticking with MK or aiming higher than us though.
