Luton manager Mike Newell on assistant referee Amy Rayner: "She should not be here. I know that sounds sexist, but I am sexist, so I am not going to be anything other than that. "We have a problem in this country with political correctness, and bringing women into the game is absolutely beyond belief. "It is bad enough with the incapable referees and linesmen we have, but if you start bringing in women, you have big problems. "This is Championship football. This is not park football, so what are women doing here? It is tokenism for the politically-correct idiots." QPR defender Marcus Bignot: "Comments like those will stop female officials from trying to make their way in the game. "Amy Rayner is a role model, and full credit goes to her. What would he have said if it had been a male assistant referee making that decision? "It's easy to blame officials, and Mike Newell is entitled to his opinion, but remarks like that do not help the game." What a TWAT! What a bad excuse, that really makes me and i ain't even a Woman!

I don't think that was an excuse for losing; he doesn't actually blame her. He just said that women are incompetent On a more serious note, he does have an arguable point - while I wouldn't preclude all women from officiating, the ones currently representing them really are consistently bad; it's almost like a token gesture from the FA, on the grounds that they're the best of a bad lot. Just enough to keep the PC mob happy. He could probably have worded it much better, though, and I wouldn't honestly be surprised if he gets a disrepute charge for this.

What an idiot. This is such a load of bollocks and double standards!
It's not about the fact this official was a women at all; if it had been a male official, would Newell come out and condemn him and call for all male officials to be domoted to reffing in the Sunday league? I doubt it.
Female officials have taken all the exams the male officials have so why shouldn't they officiate? It's not like male officials are perfect and never make any mistakes, what's their excuse?

What makes his comments even more stupid are that Andy D'urso was absolutely terrible again yesterday, for once not to QPR, it was like we had a 12th man, he was that bad, if anyone deserves to be demoted then it's him!! Stoopid c*nt!

Quoted from article: Hatters boss Mike Newell launched a scathing attack on chairman Bill Tomlins in the wake of a fourth straight Championship defeat.
In an outburst that must surely lead to a major confrontation, Newell pulled no punches.
Mike NewellNewell said: “I haven’t spoken to the chairman for months. The club has gone backwards. He hasn’t contributed anything and has not made any decisions.
Everything he has got involved with he has messed up. I cannot work with deceit and lies.
“If people say there is no money or new ground I will get on with the job but if they are going to give me bullshit for two years I can’t suffer it.
“It was easier in administration because I had nothing – just the 20 players. I’m fed up with it.”Oh dear

If they can let Graham Poll be a match official, then I don't see how being female, blind, or stoned should stop anybody else.
