Morning Derek, hope you are well
I agree, do we need another midfielder? Would be looking for aother centre back to be honest, with a bit of pace

I know it's good to ensure healthy competition and all that, but... Our midfield's pretty well set now, all of our back four positions are a bit threadbare! (And don't get me started on a replacement for Beresford :

you need a class striker too, should never have sold Howard Vine's doing the job fine at the moment, and Parkin's filling in Howard's physical role too. Once Boyd gets fit, we're assured he's great, so after that we'll see how it goes! ;D To be fair, Howard probably missed just as many chances (percentage-wise) as everyone else last season; we were literally getting 17 shots and 5 on target!

Morning Derek, hope you are well I agree, do we need another midfielder? Would be looking for aother centre back to be honest, with a bit of pace I am, linslade, thanks Absolutely agree, we need another centre back if Coyne and Perritt continue to have injury problems. I know it's good to ensure healthy competition and all that, but... Our midfield's pretty well set now, all of our back four positions are a bit threadbare! (And don't get me started on a replacement for Beresford : Yep, Neko, midfield is ok but defence is where there's a need for cover. you need a class striker too, should never have sold Howard Sadly we needed the million quid Vine's doing the job fine at the moment, and Parkin's filling in Howard's physical role too. Once Boyd gets fit, we're assured he's great, so after that we'll see how it goes! ;D Neko hits the nail on the head! parkin could do with more pace (although Howard wasn't that fast either); Vine, Feeney, Parkin and Boyd, looks pretty good to me.

Is anyone else getting a bit concerned by Coyne's continual injury problems? I don't know if he needs a knee transplant or something, but they seem to be getting perpetually buggered since about halfway through last season, and we could really do without that in probably our best centre back Perrett, I said last season wasn't quite up to Championship standard - he's okay, but not the sort of player we need if we want to threaten the top - and I stand by that. Injuries don't help, of course, but I just don't honestly think he's got the talent (which is a shame, because he's been with us a long time and has the work ethic). Barnett; very promising, but he still has his moments, doesn't he? I know Heiks, Bell and Unders can fill in there, but as best I'm aware, they're by nature midfielders rather than backs, and ideally we want people playing in their strongest positions (and again, injury/illness). Everywhere from the midfield forward is great, but with only one natural right- and left-back, we could do with cover there (I still say we're better off with Edwards and Emanuel going forwards, not back), as well as in the middle (as already discussed). I hope Newell's got something up his sleeve that he's not telling us (And incidentally, how did news of this player get leaked? He's usually very protective about info like that...)

What gets me neko is that you can see it, linslade can see it, I can see it, but Newell can't see we another centre back !!
Yes Coyne's injury problems are a worry. Mind you he was sitting in the director's area against WBA and was leaping across seats to go for a beer at half time!! (He was sitting with Curtis Davies and Sol Davis, btw)
Yep, shame about Perrett; nice bloke served the club well thru the years but sadly not Championship standard (well not any more)

totally true derek and neko, one good signing for a centre back and we could see heiks maybe do the job he is good at in midfield, holding midfielder, but also a good passer of the ball......reminds me of preecey in his day, nice vision
