The club want to make as much money as they can and in our situation we can't complain about that too much. We don't have as much trouble pulling in away support, we have a problem with encouraging our OWN fans to come back and watch a team in shambles. While I, in principal, like the idea we're all football fans and we should all love the game together, football's a business nowadays and the club have to think about this, not about pleasing away fans who visit once a season.
The mentality of the targeted Leicester fan is going to be "We're playing shit, it's December, it's freezing, it's BARNSLEY - fock it, I'll take my kids to see Santa." In reverse, the idea is that Barnsley fans should be delighted just to be where they are and will happily fork out for the privilege to come to a Premiership quality ground and potentially take the scalp of an "under-achieving, larger club."
The club aren't out to cater for everyone, they're out to make money. The more City fans they pull in on match day the more shirts they sell, the more programmes they sell, the more money they make, the more City fans they get into the habit of coming back (if all goes to plan).
I don't like it, many don't like it. But that's capitalism for you. You can argue about the philosophy of it 'til the cows come home, but the Barnsley fans have no grounds to expect Leicester City Football Club to discount tickets to them just because the Club's introduced a scheme to encourage it's OWN fans back into the ground.

We do the same at Oakwell. kids for a quid and the like. Those so called boycotters are not complaining then. Seems a good idea to get the home end full its an important fixture league wise They're probably going to the ticket office in their old school uniform to try and con a cheap ticket! ;D I'd like to think it will spur us on to the win but I'm not too confident on that.

Don't think it would have made a great deal of difference to those actually making the trip.
I'll be in my local with Jeff Stelling for company.
