Preston needed a fortunate Patrick Agyemang goal to overcome Barnsley, who put up brave resistance despite having Nick Colgan sent off on eight minutes. The visitors' keeper saw red for deliberately handling outside the area - and his replacement, Vito Mannone, also suffered a nightmare evening.
Mannone conceded a freak goal when he punched the ball against Agyemang's head and it rebounded into the net.
A spirited Barnsley fought valiantly but could not force an equaliser.

apart from the stand in keeper you guys were good last night (better than i was expecting from the 10 men at least ) well organised at the back, and some nice little runs on the break. but i missed the start, what did the normal keeper do to get sent off then?

Deliberate hand-ball outside the area.
No complaints - he had to go.
But PNE disappointed me and if they have any aspirations of top six come the end of the season then they need to improve.
Their fans booed them off at the end.

yeah mate you could here it on the TV, granted they are 3rd i think but they did shag all didnt they, the odd chance they should have done better with that ended up roling at the keeper, with the way he was playing last night all they had to do was get it on target. lol WTF was he doing trying to punch that clear? the damn ball was practically going straight down his throat, if you cant just catch it, then you have some serious problems

He's a young lad that we have on loan from Arsenal. But I am sure the couple of Carling Cup games he has played and now a couple more due to Colgans suspension will give him valuable experience.
These things happen in football and if the 'keeper fucks up then its usually a goal.
