Myself and a couple of mates are thinking about going on a road trip around Europe. What do we need, have you got any advice for us?

Only funking mate, you're foot loose and fancy free aren't you? If we had like a big camper van there could be lots of us. Anybody done this sort of thing before because so far (although frog man is right) only the obvious are being pointed out? ;D

I thought half the fun of these trips was going unprepared so you had to make do with what you could? Passport, money, map, car, clothes, some means of communicating (phrasebook etc) and possibly some food should be all that's required, surely? Be more naturelike and hike round Europe! ;D

No yeah you're right Neko but do we have to watch out for man eating tigers or anything? Hoping someone could share their experiences. Like how big a car do we need..... and do you hire one or take the one you have at home even if the one you have at home is small??

Like how big a car do we need..... and do you hire one or take the one you have at home even if the one you have at home is small?? Europe, for the most part, is pretty good as wildlife goes. You're probably in more danger from the people than you are nature! I'd assume taking your own car would be vastly cheaper, which'd make the whole thing easier, but doing it in, say, a mini would probably be a bad idea - you'd want a reasonably big car just so it felt like you had your own space in there; you'll be spending a lot of time cooped up together and that can cause stress very easily! Bear in mind you may also have to sleep in there some nights

as little as possible mate. dont want a load of clutter getting in your way, and its cheaper to buy most of the stuff you need out there anyway passport, a few cloths, and empty bags to bring me fags back over ;D

A small coach would be quite cool... with a number of seats ripped out... and some funky new paintwork... something not dis-similar to this, then!

I know, ok cheers Neko. You see Billy thats why I'm not sure you'll fit in the car me old mucker. If you have a VW camper van then yeah lets funk it up, but I can't see there being enough space....
