Well, what a fantastic day this was!!
I got up around 9:30 ish, after only about 8 hours of sleep, so was knackered!!
Done all the formalities and left my house at 11:20 to get a train from Harrow on the Hill to Baker Street.
Got to Baker Street and then just about managed to run onto the H&C Line train before it went off, spoke to a nice bloke in there, about 70ish, about QPR, and he told me all about the old times etc.
Finally got to the Bush at about 12:10 and set off to Loftus Road, spotted Caitlin on the way so chatted to her until I reached the ground.
Had a laugh outside the ground with the usual suspects before I went round to Ellerslie Road to get Steve, QPRsboy, two tickets for the game.
Went back to the ground briefly and met Mancienne, top bloke!!
Then, strangely, all the QPR players arrived in a QPR Mini Bus, rumours were they had stayed in a hotel the night before the game.
Anyway, went up to the Connie and had a drink and a chat etc.
Met Phil and gave him his tickets, nice guy!!
Always good fun in the Connie, and the Watford game was also quite entertaining, they actually won a game!! :-O
Had a nice chat with Cooch who I had not met before, and Eileen and Garry who I had not seen in a flipping long time!!
Anyway, a big group of us, Jilly, Cooch, Sam, Lee, Dan, Sinead, Me, Iceman ETC all went up to the ground and got there nice and early.
Met Tyrrell, Lauren ETC outside T block and found I was in the programme, Hehe famous at last ;-)
Despite our loyal fans making lots of noise, the game was dire and both teams were very poor, Luton RIGHTLY having a goal chalked off.
Sadly, halfway through the first half, Gareth Ainsworth suffered a broken leg, my thoughts are with him now and I’m sure we ALL hope he will be back in action very soon, what a Top Bloke!!
We took the lead out of nothing after good work by Moore, the ball dropped nicely for Dex who smashed it home and left the R’s fans going mad. We broke into song, “Luton Town, Ya Going Down”. We did not deserve the lead, but the equaliser was still a shocker.
The guy to me looked OFFSIDE, I was in line with it, but the Lino’s flag was in the way so could not be 100% sure, though those around me who had seen it better said the guy was offside.
Half time came and to be honest, the R’s had been abysmal.
Went and had a chat with Famille Du Porc at half time before going back outside T block to talk to Lauren and Tyrrell ETC and then quickly off to have quick word with the guys I sit with in V block before rushing back for the second half.
The second half came and we got off to the worst start.
Nygaard handled in the area, I ain’t seen replay yet so do not know if it was a Peno or not and to be fair, their guy stuck it away nicely.
We were rattled, and playing terribly. No recognised winger on the field made it harder, and without FIVE key players, it really was not looking good. Luton were diving and timewasting all over the gaff, Langley was brought on and immediately started diving around like the turf of Loftus Road was an Olympic Swimming Pool!!
Timoska came on for Kanyuka, but Rangers desperately needed a goal.
Step forward Paul Furlong. He replaced Nygaard after about an hour.
His introduction changed the game, at least 2 times he was blatantly fouled in the area only for the JOKE of an assistant to not give penalties, much to the disgust of our fans.
Myself, Portugeezer and his son in particular had a right go at him, how he did not see Furs was fouled is beyond me!!
We finally got a penalty when Heikenen(sp) fouled Furlong YET AGAIN.
Richard Langley, who had come on to boos from the Rangers Faithful was doing all he could to put Dexter off it, and Langley really did show his true colours as an absolute W**KER today!!
After a severe delay, as Biggie and Langley squared up to each other, Dex stepped up and brilliantly sent the keeper the wrong way with a fantastic penalty.
From then on in there was only one winner. Furs again was held back in the box but Ref didn’t give anything and as the ball bounced to Blackstock, he tried an overhead kick, which went just wide, had it have gone in, it would have been a fantastic hat trick!
We kept on pushing and pushing and eventually the goal came. Lomas, after some good work on the left, put in a fantastic ball into the box for Super Paul Furlong to brilliantly head past their keeper and send us fans MAD.
I do not quite remember what happened as such, but I was out of my seat, on my chair, and at one point nearly on the pitch as I slipped off the blue thing at the front of the stand.
“There’s only one Furlong” chanted the crowd as we all went insane.
Loved the chants today, great singing from the lads.
The end approached and we was all singing “That’s why you’re going down” and then the whistle went.
Game over, 3-2!! UNBELIEVABLE!!
Went mad, was going beserk in R block, gave Portugeezer and Son a big group hug lol, and was just randomly high fiving anyone I saw.
We stayed in the ground for a good 10-15 minutes after the game had finished, just clapping the team and singing “Hi-ho silver lining”.
Finally got out the ground and was walking up S/A Road when I bumped into Mancienne again, walking back to the car park with his family and friends.
Talked to him about his injury and asked him how he liked the game before we went our separate ways.
Got a lovely BLT from Tesco Express and then went home in the car with my mate and his family.
WHAT A DAY!!
