Atendance at playoff final (of which were leeds fans) : 45000.

It does piss me off. I could have got a season ticket for this coming season, but felt that as i had not had one last season, that i would become one of these glory hunters. I took a moral decision, and disregarded the 18 season tickets i've had in the past, as i have not had one for 3 seasons.

Glory hunters will exist at every club. Look at the situation at Reading! Yes it is annoying but lets be real. Football is a business and if you are getting an extra 7000 season tickets at lets say a cost of £450 each thats £3150000 in the clubs coffers!
Just think of all that money Warnock can spend on ageing crap strikers! ;D

Morning HGO, hope you are well. Disregarding the wind up element of your post you have a relevant point. Any club that has some success will inevitably have supporters tip up to see their club during the good times and find other things to do during the bad. With United though, I dont think the increase in numbers is down to plastic fans. Part timers, yes, but not plastic. With a club like United (and wednesday for that matter), the support is there anyway. Sheffield galvanises support in that you are one or the other, and the split is historically about 52%/48% in favour of wednesday. This means that United have something like 250,000 potential fans to pull on. All that happens is that they begin to turn up when things go well. How many did wednesday take to Cardiff, for example? And where are they week in week out? The bottom line is that any big game will see the fans turn out and they will, in turn, choose not to attend lesser games. The premiership offers more big games than any other league and the only way to guarantee attending is to get a season ticket, especially with a limited capacity. Hence, the excellent sales achieved. The upsurge of season ticket sales at BDTBL is not a result of people just deciding that they, all of a sudden, support SUFC (ie plastic fans), its just that the fanbase that was already there has decided to do something about it, which is good for the club. It happens at all clubs when they are succesful. It may even happen at SWFC one day, but not in our lifetime ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Personally, and as a 20 plus year season ticket holder, I would love to see these people come regardless of whether United are succesful or not. It can be argued that clubs need support more in times of trouble than in the good times but sadly, not everyone is as daft as me, and it just don't happen ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) By the way, have you boys reached 10,000 season ticket sales yet? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Yes arnie, thats why he has just signed a 21 year old striker! How many players have you signed? Has Sidwell left yet? It was meant to be taken in jest but anyway. We have not signed anyone yet. Coppell is doing his homework as usual and we will see some action soon. Recent 'links' have been Callum Davenport, Tommy Smith (Derby), Upson, Gooch (USA defender), and an apparent £2m bid for Ghana defender John Mensah, and a few that are wildly optimistic. You will notice they are all defenders (bar smith). We will need to replace Sidwell and get another midfielder. I have heard we may have a striker on loan but I will kepp my mouth shut until its confirmed because its optimistic and he is awesome. Sidwell will unfortunately be gone soon unless we are going to totally fuck up our wage structure and offer him £25k a week. Man City becons for the boy.

Are you really happy to be interested in Mensah, particularly for that kind of money. Having watched him in the world cup, he seems to be decidedly dodgy at times.

No I am not. Him and Sonks central defence. Both good put error prone it could be a disaster. I would rather go for the Yank or Davenport. Upson was fantastic for us but his injuries woory me.

Two africans at the centre of defence could equal disaster. Africa as a continent isn't known for producing quality defenders.
