Word on the grapevine is that you guys are planning to offer £1.5m plus Carlisle and/or Henderson for our CB Leon Barnett, who's been dubbed the next Curtis Davies and has been rated around £3m in some areas of the media.
Any thoughts on that, or any news on it at your end?

Good question... I'm sure I've seen Ovechkin show up from time to time

Hallo Mort & Neko. That's news to me & my mates. We're more discussing the arrival of Michael Mancienne on loan from Crimski as a young centre half & the likely return of the Viking upfront(no Sharp unfortunately). In which case Hendo & Carlisle could be used as makeweights but its more likely Hendo would go plus cash(maximum of two million). AB wants to develop a more passing style of play this season. I rate Barnett highly . He's very comfortable on the ball , can sit & pass in midfield has the requisite pace & physique & his reading of the game can only improve. It'd would be tough on Luton but you can't stand in his way. I'm sure your Academy has some young guns in the pipeline & the finances would dictate with the drop into division 3 a need to release him. I wouldn't mind taking Foley either but AB is keeping a tight rein on the finances having spent two million already on McAnuff. It might well be Bouazza may go if the price is right to buy the likes of Barnett.

Getting back to the thread, i think selling Barnett for 1.5 mil and either Hendo or Carlisle would be a bad deal for you guys. Barnett looked impressive last year against Derby and kept Howard out of the game but and as he is still young, you should try and keep him as long as you can to increase his value.

What I meant Peschi is Bouazza going to Reading ,West Ham or Portsmouth for he region of 3 million pounds plus . I guess his Algerian boss would like to see him playing top flight footy rather than division 2 fare so it could happen. Luton are like Crewe. They cant hold onto their young stars like Matty Tyalor Curtis Davies (the list is very long) because of the shocking state of the stadium & revenue streams.

I do agree with that, Peschi, but at the same time, we're in the third tier now, so having any of our squad valued at £3m is something amazing in itself - as Ovechkin said, we can't stand in his way if he wants to go, so £1.5m plus one or two players would be a good deal for us, especially considering our finances (the last board managed to mysteriously make about £6m dsappear...) I'd love to keep him, and maybe he'll show some loyalty, but at the same time we can't begrudge him furthering his career. On the subject of Foley, Ovechkin, hands off! He said toward the beginning of the transfer window that he wants to start next season here, so I guess you'd have to make a pretty generous offer to get him!

Some more recent offerings include Taylor, Davies, Spring (though we got him back), Hartson, Kelvin Davis and Matthew Upson to name a handful. It's horrifying how many of our youngsters go on to become established premiership players - we used to be an established top-flight club, and that's why! Stoopid finances

Yeh i see your point, but if i were you i'd want Carlisle and Henderson! They would both be very very good additions to your side. Sorry Ovechkin must have misunderstood you

Fair enough Neko. I like a player who shows some degree of loyalty... We'll take him in January then. OT:Seriously your board make Nick Leeson look like a trustworthy individiual. Plus Newell sueing for unfair dismissal.

Plus Newell sueing for unfair dismissal. It's unbelievable, ain't it? For so long, we've had a reputation for being an honest club, however crap our ground may be and however 'unfortunate' our fortunes have been of late, but then we get those three tossers on the board and we get hauled through the mud. And Tomlins claimed to be a fan and portrayed himself as our saviour too I'd be amazed if he even lives in Luton any more; life wouldn't be easy for him if he did!
