Wolves have cast their scouting net to Europe in the exhaustive hunt for Premier League players.
Despite his preference for British and Irish players up to now, boss Mick McCarthy revealed his long-serving lieutenant Ian Evans had been despatched to all corners of the continent to scour for talent.
The manager said: “We’ve been out looking at targets in France, Holland and Belgium and talking to contacts in Spain. We have to.
“Taff (Evans) has been out looking here, there and everywhere. You have to do it - you can’t just get players from one place. I’m very open minded.”
McCarthy admits he deliberately went down the route of signing British and Irish players to get Wolves promoted.
The policy of signing British-based players is likely to continue.
But the boss admits he is open to all possibilities at the moment, as he seeks the right talent at the right price.
He said: “That British route is something that suited me and I’ve not got anything against foreign players at all.
“I’m cool with any nationality and we had big Seyi (Olofinjana) here who was fantastic.
“But going British was what was needed and that decision has been proved right.”
McCarthy is also staying tightlipped on the prospect of altering the team’s style of play for the Peremier League.
Wolves have scored more goals (77) than any other Championship team this season.
But the manager would only admit work needs to be done to bring his squad up to scratch in the top flight.
He said: “We’ve got work to do to make us a better team. But in terms of how we’re going to play, come and watch us on August 15.
“I’ve got loads of thoughts on it but they’re not for public consumption. I’m not laying my soul bare to everyone on what I’m going to do and not going to do.
“Turn up on August 15 and see how we play. I’m delighted with the players and would like to give them all that opportunity.
“We might be at Anfield, or Old Trafford or Emirates – that sounds great, doesn’t it? I haven’t been there yet.”

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has targeted Newcastle winger Damien Duff as he puts together a wish-list of star signings for their assault on the Premier League next season.
McCarthy knows his newlypromoted side needs some experienced pros brought in to help in their survival fight.
In McCarthy's sights over the coming weeks and months are Duff, Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia, Manchester United's young hitman Fraizer Campbell and Bristol City midfielder Marvin Elliot.
High on McCarthy's agenda is his old Irish colleague Duff.
The 30-year-old winger has struggled since joining Newcastle from Chelsea for £6million in 2006.
McCarthy knows Duff well from his is six years in charge of the Republic of Ireland and would love him at Molineux.
However, Duff would have to take a significant pay cut on his £60,000-aweek Toon wages if he wanted to move.
Another key target is Liverpool centre-half Hyypia, who McCarthy is hopeful of persuading to join on a free.
He is out of contract and McCarthy's money men will come up with an attractive package. It will come down to whether Hyypia wants to remain in England.
Up-front, Wolves have set their sights on signing Manchester United's Campbell.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Spurs and McCarthy is hoping to persuade Sir Alex Ferguson to let him have Campbell on a similar deal.
Powerful Bristol City star Marvin Elliot - a Wolves target back in January - is another player McCarthy has in mind.
Blackburn and Wigan are also keen on the Robins' favourite.

I expect a few prem clubs to be interested in Hyppia as he will leave on a bosman at the end of the season. The few times i have seen Commons , he has been pretty impressive, that would be a welcome move. As for Hulse, i'm not sure he would offer us anymore than Iwelumo does, but i may be wrong.

Wolves have enquired about on-loan Albion striker Marc-Antoine Fortune – sparking the possibility of a Black Country tussle for the Frenchman in the summer.
The Premier League new-boys are one of several top-flight clubs to sound out Fortune’s representatives about the Nancy forward.
But Albion boss Tony Mowbray is also keen to keep the 27-year-old, who has not ruled out staying at the Hawthorns even if the Baggies’ likely relegation from the top flight is rubber-stamped.
A member of the Fortune camp told the Express & Star: “We have had contact with a few clubs. Wolves is one but we will wait to see who comes back to us.
“For the moment we don’t know exactly what we are going to do. We are looking at everything at the moment and waiting to see what happens in the summer.
“There are lots of rumours and there has been contact but we are waiting for actual offers. At the moment it is all just ‘first contact,’ so I can’t say any more.
“Maybe he could stay at West Brom. Maybe he could go to another club in the Premier League club.
“It is always possible that he could stay where is, where he likes playing.”
Fortune, who was born in French Guyana, has been a hit for the Baggies since joining on loan from Nancy in January.
Despite finding goals hard to come by – he has scored just three times in 15 matches – the former Lille and FC Utrecht man has drawn a positive response from fans and team mates for his all-round game.
The Baggies already have an agreement in principle with Nancy to make the loan move permanent, but they have no binding agreement in place with the player.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today revealed his new signings must possess the same character as his Championship title-winners.
McCarthy, who is currently on a Europe-wide assessment of targets, has chiefly opted for hardworking, young and hungry, value-for-money recruits in his three years in charge.
The 50-year-old now wants Premier League experience for arguably his toughest assignment, but stressed their temperament must be similar to players such as Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
“Our players are hungry and full of desire and I’m still conscious of that when I’m trying to sign players now,” said the boss.
“We need some experienced players, but I want them to be of a similar ilk to the current group in terms of being good characters and having that hunger.
“I want players who, when it’s tough, will roll their sleeves up and get going and have a go at it – not pack in and not to want to play.
“We’ve had good characters all season, that’s why we’ve won the title.
“What they’ve had is an appetite of really wanting to play and I want to find others with similar appetite to bring in this summer.”
As reported in yesterday’s Express & Star, McCarthy is currently weighing up a bid for Standard Liege’s giant defender Oguuchi Onyewu, who turned 27 today and has brief Premier League experience on loan at Newcastle.
Wolves have also been linked with Cardiff’s 21-goal striker Ross McCormack, who would fit in to McCarthy’s young and hungry category, but falls short on the Premier League experience front, having played for Rangers and Motherwell in his native Scotland before moving to South Wales last summer.
Meanwhile, contrary to reports, sources close to Rangers’ former Villa midfielder Steven Davis insist there has been no contact from Wolves.
