Boss Glenn Hoddle has told Kenny Miller to keep a cool head and ensure he doesn't miss Wolves' crunch play-off run-in through suspension.
The Scotland international picked up his eighth booking of the season at Reading on Saturday, leaving him walking a disciplinary tightrope for the next three games.
Miller must now avoid being booked twice in the forthcoming clashes with Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth and Coventry or face a two-game ban for collecting 10 yellow cards.
If the 26-year-old gets through to the April 10 cut-off without reaching the 10 bookings mark then his record will be wiped clean, ensuring, injury permitting, he will be available for the entire run-in.
Hoddle is eager not to dampen Miller's passion and enthusiasm for the fight at a time when he is at the top of his form.
But he has told the Celtic-bound forward that if he is to get booked, he doesn't want to to be for anything petty.
"If Kenny should get booked for petulance like talking back to the officials or kicking the ball away, then that is something that he and us could well do without," said Hoddle.
"But what I wouldn't want to do is take Kenny's passion away.
"He's one of these players who does everything at 100mph, he runs at people with pace, has a trick and does it all very quickly."
Hoddle admitted he substituted Miller at both Reading and Hull because he feared the 11-goal top scorer would end up getting himself sent off.
"He got booked on Saturday for making a sliding tackle and pulling his opponent back. It was nothing serious but it was one of those fouls that some referees see as a booking."
