...feel like they've been dealt a shit hand when lives were being handed out? All this bollocks about your destiny is in your own hands. Well I tried to change my life but it's also dependant on other people. I may as well go and live in Outer Mongolia to force any real change.

I want more than a day out. I want to have more to my life than work. I want a man in my life. I want a family. That would cheer me up.

That sounds like a fair request to me.

I know.
Is work frustrating you today? Did you have to split the modules like your supervisor requested?

I feel utterly depressed and unable to move on.
Yes I've had to do the modules again because of the fat ex supervisor.

If it's any consolation H, I've been pissed off with my life over the last couple of months. Going through a uni course that's cost me most of my savings and a relationship (who'd have thought that moving nearer to your girlfriend would ruin things?), which I only signed up for after spending the previous year being deemed as unemployable due to A level results after getting a 2:1 at undergrad hasn't been my idea of fun.
Oh well, bring on the five exams starting next week followed by the diss and it'll hopefully be done.

Sounds pants Pete. What will you do when Uni is over?

I've got to spend the first couple of months doing some research for my diss. It's focussing on a specific company so I'll be spending some time there and doing the write-up. I also need to get a temp or part-time job to get some pennies back. Following that, it's going to be back to launching into the job market and hoping a postgrad qualification will get me somewhere. One can always hope, eh?

To be honest my postgrad didn't do me much good as I ended up in a completely different field of work but it always good to have.
Have you got any work lined up?

With undergrad and postgrad I've managed to hedge my bets somewhat as I did physics undergrad and I'm now doing Management after it tended to be financial jobs that attracted my attention when jobhunting last year. Despite the image that seems to be conjured up at times in the media that the world's crying out for physicists, my own experience seemed to imply they were the least-demanded of scientists.
I've not been looking for work just yet. I've had a lot of work on with assignments and with exams fast approaching, that's what I need to concentrate on. I'll be looking for jobs when the summer arrives, but exams have to take priority in the meantime. May has never been the most enjoyable month for students!
I think one of my big problems with looking for work is a lack of relevant experience. I'd like to get a job either in finance or data analysis but it seems impossible to get experience in office environments unless you've already got experience. I had a brilliant argument with someone at the jobcentre last summer though after she wanted me to apply for an administrator job at my local church. It was about ten weeks before I returned to uni so I refused to apply for it as it was a permanent position, she insisted that I apply and then announce upon arrival that I would be leaving soon before getting angry with me when I pointed out I go to that church so they were aware of me leaving and I should have never considered applying! All I can offer is experience in factories/warehouses, which I suppose shows a willingness to take on tasks, even if I'm not really suited to them.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a friendship... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.
