A Southampton football player has been arrested in connection with an assault in a city centre bar.
Lee Barnard, 26, was arrested along with three other men aged 31, 26 and 25 during the early hours of Sunday.
The arrests were made after a 27-year-old man was found unconscious with serious head injuries outside the White House, in Above Bar.
The striker, who suffered a hand injury, was also taken to hospital. He was bailed until Wednesday.
Police were called to the bar at about 0245 BST Sunday to reports that a man had been assaulted.
A spokesman added: "A 27-year-old man had suffered head injuries and was unconscious.
"He was taken by ambulance to hospital.
"Four men, 31, 26, 26 and 25, were arrested by police on suspicion of assault.
"One of the 26-year-olds was street bailed and taken to hospital with an injury to his hand. He is due to answer bail on October 6."
Barnard signed for Southampton Football Club from Southend United in January.
A spokesman for Southampton FC was unavailable for comment when contacted by the BBC.
