Huddersfield's latest signing Gary Naysmith has revealed "it didn't feel like the right thing" to stay on at Sheffield United.
The 31-year-old Scotland international rejected a new deal to remain at Bramall Lane and opted instead to drop down a division and help Lee Clark's Huddersfield challenge for promotion to the Championship next season.
Naysmith told the club's official website: "I've not got a bad thing to say about Sheffield, but for one reason or another when it came to renegotiating it didn't feel like the right thing for me.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Sheffield United for everything they've done for me. They took me from Everton and gave me regular football. It's a big club that gets 26,000 every week regardless of whether they are 10th or first in the league."
Naysmith added: "Huddersfield is a club that is definitely on the up. The passion and the enthusiasm of the manager and the owner is something I want to be a part of.
"I'm still ambitious and I want to get to 50 caps for Scotland. A lot of people may see this move as a backwards step because I have moved down a division, but my aim is to go back up with Huddersfield next year. I'm looking forward to working under Lee Clark."
