Not just the season ticket prices, due to go up significantly for the likes of me, but also the closing of the Mayflower. Yes its run down and ramshackle and yes, assuming that the new Grandstand has to be built, it will have to go - but just leaving it empty for the year to "save" £100k is an outrage I think.
It wasn't just the price in the Mayflower, it was the unreserved nature of the seating. I have had a season ticket there for years and years, only taking a break from it whilst living away, but otherwise have been on the Mayflower since I was about 5 or 6 years old. I know dozens of faces from all those decades but also a great number of people, all friends, who come when they can and all get to sit together - including some on here who enjoy their intimate experiences with lottery tickets and tea stirrers. What I am now faced with is the loss of the culture of how I watch Argyle, a significant increase in cost, lower league football and the possible inability to socialise at football as I otherwise would. I suspect like many of us I will get suckered into buying a ST but, also being likely to miss half a dozen games or so - plus with local and easy to reach away fixtures like E*e*er City, Bristol Rovers, Yeovil, Southampton and several London games I could actually plan to miss home games, see more away games and reduce some expenditure. It is going to need some serious thought before I choose to renew.
There's not a lot to be cheerful about at the moment is there?
