I'm not talking about dramatic endings, or famous speeches, or amazing CG explosions etc... I'm looking for scenes that just carry their own unique sense of 'wow'.
I realise this'd be easy to do now - just masses of CG and voila! - but for its time, it was incredible, and even now still looks good.
I'll grant that this offering may be tinged with a little childhood nostalgia, but what can you do? ;D

Excellent choice GT.
One amazing scene is the end of Gran Torino. I'd recommend anyone who hasn't watched that film to do so. Would be too much of a spoiler to post that scene up though.

Agreed - excellent call, GT. Another one to post - not a personal choice, but it was such a massive undertaking that it had the 'Best Choreography' Oscar invented especially for it to win! Actually, upon re-watching it, I will put it down as a personal choice - 'cause it really is amazing.

Watched this again last night.
Epic scene, and one of the most memorable closing shots of any film. The inspired choice of music elevates it greatness....

Was also going to have P.T. Anderson's fantastic opening 3 minute tracking shot from Boogie Nights but Youtube have bastardised it, replacing the music for copyright reasons. The opening 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan has to be right up there too, but the nothing is quite as epic as..... Oh, for the chance to see that on an IMAX screen!

Always overlooked. The final 4 minutes especially are brilliant....

For me, this is timeless: i imagine you wandering around certain parks of London (often rather near to a toilet) singing this song.... ;D
