I don't like Emmerich films. Full of huge plot holes, paper thin characters, stock cliches ,blowing up the White House and inane dialogues topped by an overwhelming plie of special effects to cover it all. 2012 the year the Mayan calendar (those superb astronomers ) says the world will end is the inspiration. www.youtube.com/watch?A five minute trailer was aired on ALL US TV networks this weekend thus making all viewers unable to escape the apocalypse and tedium. Give me Bright Starhttp (www.imdb.com/title/tt0810784/) anyday .

The won't end, apparently the mayan calender has 17 cycles, each one lasting 150,000 days, the realy end to the mayan calendar ends in 80,000 AD.
